VISIT REPORT

We the MSc. Nursing final year students from Medical-Surgical Nursing Speciality of West
Bengal Govt.College of Nursing ,S.S.K.M Hospital, Kolkata, started our journey on 27th
February 2016 to Medanta, the Medicity Hospital, Gurgaon, Haryana, India, for five weeks
experience as per requirement of MSc. Nursing curriculum. We had our clinical experience
for four weeks in Medanta Hospital from 29th March 2016 to 1th April 2016.

Objectives of the visit


 Describe the history, organizational structure and physical facilities of the institution
 Provide comprehensive care to critically ill patients
 Demonstrate advance skills in critical care nursing including advance life support
 Assists in diagnostic evaluation and care
 Describe the various drugs used in critical care along with its nurse’s responsibilities
 Demonstrate skill in handling various equipments and gadgets used in critical care
unit
 Study critical cases for presentation
 Appreciate and develop team work and co-ordinate activities of patient care
 Develop human relation skill for working in the critical care unit

History

Medanta, the Medicity is one India’s largest and most prestigious multi-super speciality
medical institute. It is spread across 43 acres in Gurgaon, pat of the National Capital
Region(NCR) and houses 1250 beds and over 350 critical care beds, with 45 operation
theatres. The hospital was founded in 2009 by renowned cardiothoracic surgeon Dr.NTrehan

It was primarily known as an institute specializing in cardiology. Presently Medanta has 32


institutions, departments and divisions that cater to over 20 specialities adhering to NABH
standard. The hospital is as 2013 accredited by ISQua(International Society for Quality in
Healthcare), NABL and JCI. At present Medanta, the Medicity consists of various institutes,
