Clipart & Fonts Credits:
I love creating clip art, and often you will find many unique
resources here at the Candy Class because I enjoy creating
unique educational resources with my art skills. However,
there is no way I could do it all without the outstanding
talent from these font designers and clip artists. I am
incredibly grateful for their talents that help me to stretch
my time and make these resources possible.
What you need to
get started:
1. Use the link below to download the resources. Please
note, please do not share these links with other educators.

A printable version of the answer key is also provided in this pdf.
If you need help, please contact me at teachcandyclass@gmail.com
2. Have access to the Internet and a Google Account. (FREE)

3. Click to make a copy. This will automatically save on your Google

Drive™.

4. A copy will open up for you. Instead of a presentation opening up,
it is set in edit mode. Students will use this resource while in edit
mode.

Begin your Google Slides™
Project:
1. If you haven’t created a free Google™ account, you will
need to do that before beginning the project.
2. Each student will need their own account if they will be
working on their own project using Google Slides. Use your
normal methods in Google Classroom™ for assigning
students a project.
3. Before you begin editing/filling in your digital project, it
is VERY important to first save a copy of the file on your
own Google Drive. You will want students to make their
own copy or make a copy for them. This will prevent them
from editing your original file.

4. Instead of showing Google slides like a presentation,
students will work in the edit mode, which will allow them
to type or slide pieces around. Edit mode is simply this
area as shown in the image. Their work is automatically
saved as they work!

5. I like to offer options because I know everyone will

have different preferences, and also this often gives
extra resources for differentiating instruction. Simply
click on any unwanted slides and delete them. You can
actually make several different versions for your students
by making a copy (step 3).

Google Drive, Google Classroom &
Student Accounts
If you will just be using this resource to project on a Smartboard or
white board, you will simply need a Google account and to access your
Google Drive account to open the files. Than simply project them.
(Google Drive is free, and anyone with an email account can access it.)
Note, white boards may have limited features over a SmartBoard such
as not being able to drag and drop the objects. However, you can always
use a dry erase marker to write the answer instead.
If students will be using this resource, you will need Google Classroom,
as stated in the preview and description. That way, students can have
their own accounts. Google Classroom differs from Google Drive
because your school will need to be onboard for Google Classroom and
sign-up for it. Currently, Google Classroom is only accessible to non-
profit educational institutions, and Google has to approve it. With
Google Drive, you can set-up on your own account as long as you have a
gmail account. However, you have to have an email to set-up the
account. There is an age requirement to sign-up for email accounts, so
that limits setting up student accounts.
If you will just be projecting, it is pretty simple to set-up. However, if
students will be using this resource, I have recommended in the preview
and description before purchase that Google Classroom be set-up
ahead of time because there is red tape to get through. While I did not
include instructions on how to set-up Google Classroom in this resource
because that should be set-up before purchase if you plan for students
to use this resource with student accounts, I did write a blog post with
links to some helpful tutorials for that. The link to the post is bit.ly/
digilinky, or you can find it on my blog at thecandyclass.com.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at
teachcandyclass@gmail.com. Thanks so much! J

Directions: Answer the questions in complete sentences. Comprehension Questions
1. Before reading the last three cards, did you think Opal Mouse stole the necklace? Why or
why not? Use only information from cards 1-25 to state your reasons.
Possible Answers for yes: Opal said she wanted Mazy’s necklace. The ladybug said
she saw Opal with a necklace. The footprints led to Opal’s house.
Possible Answers for no: Opal already had a necklace like Mazy. The ladybug said
she saw the mouse holding a necklace with eight sides, but Mazy’s necklace had
ten sides.
2. What pieces of information show that Opal Mouse did not take the necklace?

Possible Answers: Opal already had a necklace like Mazy. Opal’s necklace had
twelve sides, and Mazy’s necklace had ten sides. The ladybug’s story did not
match up with the facts, which shows the ladybug was not being honest.

3. What pieces of information shows the ladybug was being dishonest?

Possible Answers: The ladybug said she saw a mouse wearing a purple gown, but
Opal had a blue gown. The ladybug acted scared when she saw the detective. The
ladybug said she saw the mouse with a necklace that had eight sides, but Opal’s
necklace had twelve sides and Mazy’s necklace had ten sides.
