CONFIGURE ANDROID DEVICES FOR EDUROAM WI-FI ACCESS

The following instructions will enable you to connect your Android device to eduroam, the
secure Wi-Fi network.
Configuration instructions
1. Click "Settings" then select "Wireless & Networks" and "Wi-Fi settings".
2. If Wi-Fi is not enabled, please enable it.
3. Select "eduroam".
4. You may now be asked for a password to protect the credential storage on your device.
This is a security setting for your device and not your Wi-Fi password. Please enter a
memorable password here to continue.
5. For "EAP method" select "PEAP".
6. For "Phase 2 authentication" select "MSCHAPV2".
7. If you are using Android, set "CA Certificate" to "Do not validate".
8. Enter your Identity as your username as displayed in the eduroam section of the student
portal, e.g. "first.year@students.dkut.ac.ke".
9. Some devices may have an "Anonymous identity" field. Leave this blank.
10. Enter your Wi-Fi password.
11. Select "Connect".
12. Your device should show "Obtaining IP address from eduroam..." then shortly after
"Connected to eduroam".
13. IMPORTANT: Press "Cancel" to go back to the previous screen. Do NOT press
"Forget" or you will need to enter all the configuration information again.
Your device should now connect automatically to the eduroam wireless network whenever it is
in range.

Windows Client (Laptops) Connecting to eduroam.


1. On Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 wireless clients, go to Control Panel >>
Network and Sharing Center, click Set up a new connection or network .
2. Select Manually connect to a wireless network, then click Next.
3. Enter the SSID eduroam in the Network name section, select "WPA2-
Enterprise" for Security type, and then click Next.

4. Click Change connection settings


5. In the Security tab, click Settings, un-check Verify the server's identity by
validating the certificate, then click OK.

6. Click Advanced settings, enable Specify authentication mode, and


choose User Authentication, then click OK.
7. After finishing the settings, connect to the wireless network eduroam.

8. When being prompted for the credentials, type the username and password as
displayed in the eduroam section of student portal, then you will join the
network.
