(loss free) Terminals are provided for external connections to connect unknown capacitor and digital null detector. FORMULA USED c F ice ‘ x= — = Q W here P & Q are known standard resistances and C is a known standard Capacitor. -2 Rx==XR PROCEDURE — 1 Connect the unknown capacitor with the terminals marked unknown and digital null detector with the terminals marked D. 2 Set the Continuously variable resistance R to zero position and also short circuit Rx terminals with a connecting lead. Ang set resistance Q at 100 ohms. pO Switch on the instrument, Now adjust the decade resistance di inimi: ings it me ~ e dial P to minimize the readin digital null detector. ( minimum Teadings may be 0.00-0.08) ene Note the value P, Q ang C and calculate the value of unknown capacitor using above formula. Repeat the experiment at another value of resistance Q. ADITIONAL EXPERIMENT ANE EAPERIMENT MEASUREMENT OF UNKNOWN RESISTANCE Without disturbing the position the bridge, disconnect the connecting lead From RX terminals. There will again be some readings in the digital null detector. Now adjust the continuously variable resistance R to minimize the readings in the digital null detector Note the value of P, Q and R and calculate the value of unknown resistance Rx using above given formula. HAY S BRIDGE | (WITH INBUILT OSCILLATOR AND DIGITAL NULL DETECTOR) EXPERIMENT-... Meg Pee ; : Using hay’s bridge ‘surement of unknown self eee of high quality factor 1 MAIN FEATURES OF THE BRIDGE. | EES OF THE BRIDGE. | foes decade resistance dial having value 10 x100KQ, 10x10kQ, <1kQ | jingle decade resistance dial having value 10 «1000, ‘Two fixed standard Capacitors havirig values 0.01pf and 0.02pf. ixed standard resistance having value 1000 ohm. Terminals are provided for external connections to connect unknown inductance and digital null detector or iiead phone | | FORMULA USED | L=QRC l Where R and Q are known standard resistances and C is a standard capacitor, PROCEDURE -- 1. Connect the unknown Inductance with digital null detector input terminals with 2. Set the capacitor C at 0.01 3. Switch on the instrument. 4. Now adjust the decade resistance dial R to minimize the readings in the digital null detector. ( minimum readings may be 0.00-0.20) Note value of R, C and Q. and calculate the value of unknown inductance ing above formula. 5 Repeat the above experiment at another value of capacitor C and resistance Q. the terminals marked unknown and the terminals Marked D, uf position and resistance Q say at 500 ohms. 5. NOTE — VALUE OF UNKNOWN INDUCTANCE IS — 1 Happ. WEINS FREQUENCY BRIDGE (Inbuilt variable frequency oscillator and digital null detector) EXPERIMENT: --- Measurement of unknown frequency by using wein’s Frequency Bridge. MAIN FEATURES OF THE BRIDGE: R1=R2 -- Three decade resistance dials having value 10x10009, 10x1002 and 410x109, Single decade resistance dial having value 10x1002. Single decade resistance dials having value 101002. C1=C2 — Fixed standard capacitor having value 0.1 uf. (loss free) Terminals are provided for external connections to connect unknown frequency and digital null detector or bead phone. FORMULA USED WhereR - RI=R2 And C - Ct=C2 PROCEDURE — 4 Connect the digital null detector input terminals with the terminals marked D in the circuit diagram. Select any one unknown frequency with selector switch. Set the resistance dial R4 at 200 ohms and R3 at 100 ohms. Switch on the instrument. there will be some readings in the digital meter. Now adjust the decade resistance dial R1=R2 to minimize the readings in the digital null detector. Note the value R1=R2, and C and calculate the value of unknown frequency using above formula. : 7 Repeat the experiment with other values of unknown frequency and also other value of resistance R4 and R3 ARON a Note — the value of decade resistance dial R4 must be double from the value of R3 otherwise the bridge will not be balanced. —_——— MAXWELL INDUCTANCE BRIDGE (Inbuilt oscillator and digital null detector) EXPERIMENT --- Measurement of a unknown self inductance using Maxwell Inductance Bridge. MAIN FEATURES OF THE BRIDGE Three decade resistance dials having value 10x1009, 10x102 and 10x12 R -—- three fixed value of resistances 1000hms,200 ohms and 400 ohms. L,— Fixed standard inductance having value 20 mH L unknown inductance. R1----Continuously variable resistance 0 to 100 ohm for impedance matching in de arm. _Terminals are provided for external connections to connect unknown inductance ‘and digital null detector or head phcne. FORMULA USED L2=(R/P) xl Where R and P are known standard resistances and L; is a standard known inductance. PROCEDURE 4 Connect unknown inductance with the terminals marked unknown and digital null detector or head phone with the terminals marked D. 2. Set the resistance dial R at 400 ohm position and adjust the variable resistance R1 at mid position. ‘Switch on the instrument. : , i Now adjust the decade resistance dial P to minimize the readings in the digital null detector and then adjust R1 for minimum readings.
