Alexa Mendoza
Main character

Alexa Mendoza is a brave and courageous fifteen-year-old

who has long struggled with cancer, regularly undergoing
cycles of chemotherapy. Determined to achieve all the goals
she has always set for herself, Alexa's illusions are shattered
when she finds herself with a handful of hairs in her hand, a
tangible sign of an illness that manifests itself clearly, even on
an aesthetic level. The awareness that the first year of high
school, as well as those to come, will not be what she
expected, the fear of being treated differently, the necessary
esignations imposed by cancer the basketball tryouts, the
face-to-face classes, the dance graduation - they often push
her to take refuge in herself, seeking refuge in the four
reassuring walls of her room.

Katie Cooper
Main character

Katie Cooper, more shy and sweet, is Alexa's best

friend and never leaves her alone, especially in the
most delicate moments of her illness. One step away
from starting school, the two are very excited and
together they plan their first day of school to make it
perfect in the smallest of ways detail. Katie's optimism,
always ready to support her, the presence of a strong
family and the closeness of Jennifer and Jack, Katie's
mother and little brother, are her impetus to not give
up.

Jack Cooper
Main character

Jack is a fun and energetic boy. He loves playing video

games and having fun with his dog, Potato. He gets
along well with a lot of people. It can sometimes end up
in awkward situations, but it usually works. He is very
afraid of raccoons, once blocking the window that
allows Alexa to climb out of the tree, yelling "Raccoons
climb trees, trees go to windows and windows go to
me!". Jack loves animals and pets. In the series, he starts
doing tap dancing and martial arts which he becomes
very interested in both. Jack is quite impatient and not
always the best behaved, but he is very funny and
generally very supportive. He is really helpful to Alexa
and is always willing to do fun things with her.

Lucas Mendoza
Main character

Lucas Mendoza is the brother of one of the main

characters Alexa Mendoza. He likes to sing and make
music, he even created his own band in season 2 of
Alexa and Katie. He also studies hard for medical school
to help people like doctors helped Alexa. He is best
friends with Alexa's old boyfriend Dylan Greene and
dated Alexa's nemesis Gwenny Thomson in Season 2.
Lucas is seen as a laid-back teenager who tries to be
cool. However, when he wants to, he can be a very fun
and energetic person. He is very sweet, loving and
funny. He wrote a song for Alexa on the Stand Up To
Cancer show. Lucas is an affectionate and handsome
brother.

Lori Mendoza
Main character

Lori (Tiffani Thiessen) is the loving and caring mother

of Lucas and Alexa. She can often be
overprotective, but ultimately she only wants what is
best for her children. Lori also has a passion and
talent for planning parties (and dates for Jennifer).
Lori gets very stressed out during Alexa's checkup
weeks. She is very competitive and loves to play
games like charades. She is quite impulsive,
considering she went out of her way to break things
at Jennifer's house so she could have more time with
her handyman Joe. She wanted to put them in a
relationship together. She lives with her family
alongside Katie Cooper and her family. Lori is an
understanding, fun and brave person.

Dave Mendoza
Main character

Dave Mendoza (Eddie Shin) is the father of Alexa and

Lucas, and is a pilot. He is often goofy and wants the
best for his children. Dave loves to have fun and takes
things like football games very seriously. He is very
friendly and funny. He sometimes makes mistakes as a
parent, but learns quickly from them and is afraid of
confrontation. He is married to Lori Mendoza.

Jennifer Cooper
Main character
Jennifer is a divorced mother with two children, Katie and Jack.
She lives next door to the Mendozas. She tries to give Katie good
advice and be a nice mom. Jennifer loves wine, food and video
games. She divorced Robbie Cooper when Jack was 5, but still
keeps in touch with him and maintains a good friendship. She
has financial difficulties and often comes to Mendoza to eat and
drink, despite not earning much money, she does her best to
keep a roof over her children's heads and support them in any
way she can. In Season 3, she tries online dating, but is more
successful in romance when Lori pushes her to start a relationship
with a handyman. Jenifer is a very awkward and clumsy person,
but she is a lot of fun. She is very funny and gives good advice.
She loves to be organized. She tends to be lazy at times, but
changes over the course of the show. She is still a very
hardworking person who loves her family and friends.
