Title of the Story: “The Gift of the Magi”

Technique Used: Somebody Wanted But So Then

Summary:
Della and Jim is a poor newlywed couple. Christmas is near, Della wanted to buy
a special Christmas gift for Jim, and Jim wanted to buy a meaningful gift for
Della, but she only had $1.87 with which to buy Jim a present. So Della made the
decision to sell her lovely long hair to a wig manufacturer in order to purchase a
chain for Jim's beloved pocket watch, and Jim sell his pocket watch in order to
purchase combs for Della's hair. Then on Christmas morning, when they
exchanged their carefully picked gifts, they realized that their sacrifice made their
gift meaningless. Jim’s pocket watch has no chain, and Della’s long hair was
gone. However their compassion and selflessness shed light the true meaning of
giving.
