What is the Purpose of
Immunization?
Immunization, also known as
vaccination, is to protect individuals and
communities from infectious diseases
by stimulating the body's immune
system to develop immunity against
specific pathogens, such as bacteria or
viruses. Immunization works by
introducing a weakened or killed form
of the infectious agent or its parts into
the body, prompting the immune
system to produce antibodies that can
recognize and fight off the actual
infectious agent if the person is exposed
to it in the future.
