Through DepEd Order 62, s. 2011 or the National Indigenous Peoples Education
Policy Framework which was formulated after several consultation sessions with IP
leaders and elders the Department officially commenced the institutionalization of
the IP Education Program in 2011. The policy adopts a rights-based approach and
directs the implementation of an education that is anchored in the social and cultural
context of IP learners.
IPEd program is DepEd’s response to the right of indigenous communities and
indigenous learners to an education that is responsive to their context, respects their
identities, and promotes the value of their indigenous knowledge, skills, and other
aspects of their cultural heritage.

Sustainable Development Goal 1: NO POVERTY

According to Section III of Republic Act no. 11310 or Pantawid Pamilyang
Pilipino Program (4 P’s) Act, the 4Ps is the national poverty reduction strategy and a
human capital investment program that provides conditional cash transfer to qualified
household-beneficiaries.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said it is providing

necessary assistance to the country’s indigenous peoples (IP) by ramping up efforts to
include more families in the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).

Also, DSWD spokesperson Irene Dumlao said among their efforts to uplift the
state of living of IPs is their inclusion to the 4Ps. She stated that “Currently, there
are 663,616 indigenous people families who are 4Ps beneficiaries.”

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is helping more

members of indigenous people (IP) groups in the country learn the value of prioritizing
their children’s health and education through its Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program
(4Ps).
