Probability Problems

1. Two separate coins are tossed together. What is the probability that in one
toss head will come where in another toss tail will come?

2. Two different dice are tossed at a time. What is the probability of coming five
in both the dice?

3. Two heterozygous plants (Tt) are crossed. What is the probability that their
progeny will be homozygous recessive?
4. Two different genotypes AaBbCC and AABbCc are crossed. What the probability that
their progeny will be Aa BbCc?

5. A single coin is tossed. What is the probability that head or tail will come?

6. A dice is tossed. What is the probability of getting five or four?

7. A couple has planned four children. What is the total probability of getting 1 girl and 3
boys?

8. Two heterozygous red flower (Rr) is crossed. What is the total probability of getting F1 as
Rr?
Consider the cross AaBbccDd Ee× AaBbCcddEe. Calculate the probability of
obtaining offspring with the genotype aabbccddee
Aa ×Aa= ¼
Bb ×Bb=1/4
cc ×Cc=1/2
Dd ×dd=1/2
Ee ×Ee=1/4

So 1/4 ×1/4 ×1/2 ×1/2 ×1/4=1/256

Gene A, B and C control three phenotypes which assort independently; A plant with the
genotype AaBbCc is selfed. What is the probability for progeny which the dominant
phenotype for AT LEAST ONE of the phenotypes controlled by A, B and C.

The genotype which will not show dominant phenotype for any of the gene will be aabbcc

Aa ×Aa= aa=1/4

Bb ×Bb=bb=1/4

Cc ×Cc=cc=1/4

1/4 ×1/4 ×1/4=1/64

1-1/64=63/64
