What can you plant in a greenhouse: joint

planting - Gardening - 2020
2020-09-18

We will understand how to properly use the entire soil of the greenhouse. In order to get a
notable crop, which will be ready to be harvested earlier or will have time to ripen (concerns
the northern regions), we plant vegetable crops in closed ground. Building a greenhouse takes
a lot of effort, time and finances, so you want to plant it as much as possible, and we often
plant different crops close to each other. Incorrectly picked vegetables for co-growth can
cause large losses in yield, so you need to know what can be planted in the greenhouse.
Thermophilic vegetables such as peppers, tomatoes, and cucumbers are mainly grown in
protected ground. If there is a place, I want to add something else. Many cultures are able to
coexist peacefully, but there are representatives who, with their presence, will inhibit the
growth and development of the main "settlers." We propose to consider which joint planting
of vegetables in the greenhouse is permissible and which are not.

Why do you need to plant in protected ground?

Today, no summer cottage is complete without a greenhouse or greenhouse. Experienced
gardeners argue that the crop, which is obtained from the greenhouse, can not be compared
with what was obtained from crops planted in the open ground.

Many in greenhouses grow not only tomatoes and cucumbers, but also roots, greens,
ornamental flowering plants. Such plantings allow you to monitor soil moisture, adjust the
temperature for better growth of the culture. Many novice gardeners do not know that in a
greenhouse you can plant together, and it so happens that their crop turns out to be much
poorer than that of a neighbor behind a fence that grows vegetables on ordinary beds. What's
the matter? It is just necessary to use the place of the closed ground rationally and not to push
everything that was at hand on one territory. We suggest to understand which vegetables can
be planted in one greenhouse, and which ones are not recommended.
Cooking greenhouse
In the protected ground everything will grow perfectly. In the spring, when the snow is still in
places, the greenhouse is already quite warm and good, why would it stand idle just like that if
you can get the first crop of greenery in it? Especially since many crops are ideal predecessors
for planting cucumbers and tomatoes. If you have plans to plant these particular vegetables,
we offer to prepare the ground, and at the same time enjoy the very first vitamins of green
crops from your own garden before anyone else!

So, before planting the main crops in the greenhouse, sprout leaf lettuce, watercress, parsley,
onions (on the feather), dill, Beijing kale, and mustard in its soil. After harvesting, dig up the
soil again, remove the remnants of the grown plants, and can proceed to the main planting.
The question of what can be planted together in a greenhouse is of interest to everyone, so
you should carefully think about choosing vegetables.

For example, cucumbers with tomatoes together will not grow very well, as cultures need
different temperature conditions. Eggplants in general do not like the thickening and
neighborhood of other cultures. But it is still possible to grow all these vegetables together,
one has only to choose the right varieties and act. Following our recommendations, you will
be able to achieve a high yield, even if your greenhouse will be planted with various
vegetables. What cultures can you plant together? We offer to start the selection of neighbors
for tomatoes.
What can you plant tomatoes in the greenhouse?
These vegetables like to grow in light fertile soils saturated with calcium. It is necessary to
increase the yield of calcium nitrate to increase the yield. If the soil in the greenhouse is
fertilized with organic matter, then additional fertilizing is not useful, on the contrary, they
can be detrimental to the harvest. "Overfed" tomatoes will gain a green mass, and the fruits
will give a little, and they will be small. Tomatoes need airing, moderate air temperature,
abundant watering, which are produced directly under the root. And with what you can plant
tomatoes in the greenhouse? What cultures will they take root with?

Nearby you can plant white cabbage of an early variety. Suitable Express, Miracle ultra early,
Nakhodka. "In the feet" of the ridge will be excellent to grow cabbage and leafy salads. Also
good neighbors will be radish sugar giant, parsley and onions. Unfortunately, tomatoes cannot
create a good union with fennel and dill, so give up this neighborhood.

Many gardeners make a gross mistake by creating a joint planting of cucumbers and tomatoes
in the greenhouse. If you do not have a separate space for cucumbers, then do not plant crops
on one bed, plant on different ones and, ideally, separate plantings from each other by a bed
of pepper. Planting tomatoes and hot peppers in the same greenhouse is unacceptable only if
you are not a gourmet and you are not embarrassed by the bitter-hot taste of tomatoes, whose
shrub can pereopylitsya with a burning neighbor.

Before looking for neighbors for cucumbers, we suggest finding out when you can plant
cucumbers in the greenhouse with seeds.
Cucumber planting rules
When planting seeds, it depends on the region where the crop is grown and on the
greenhouse. If there is no artificial lighting and heating in it, then the residents of the central
and northern parts of Russia can start planting in the middle and the end of May, when the
outside air temperature is +15 degrees. If you live in the southern part, then you can plant
cucumber seeds in a greenhouse in April. The same period is relevant for greenhouses with
heating and lighting.

Two days before planting, seeds must be prepared. To do this, for 24 hours, place them in a
refrigerator or any other cool place. After the time has elapsed, prepare bags of gauze, place
each with seed, and place in water for 12 hours. After that, remove, leave the bags of seeds at
room temperature, for the next day there will be small sprouts. If some seeds do not hatch, it
will mean that they are empty and you can throw them away.
What you can plant cucumbers in the greenhouse?
Planting seeds should be a one-line or two-line method. At the same time in the garden should
be trellis, which is necessary to tie up the plants for their good fruiting. Cucumbers need
abundant watering, if the culture is lacking in moisture, the fruit may have a bitter taste. In
addition, it is necessary to produce organic and mineral supplements stably. Excellent
cucumbers respond to solutions of potassium sulfate, bird droppings and superphosphate.
What you can plant cucumbers in the greenhouse?

If cucumbers do not grow simply tied up, but there is a trellis, they will not damage their
growing crops with their tendrils, which they may catch on. If there is enough space between
the bushes, then white cabbage can be planted. Also excellent neighbors will be dill, parsley,
fennel, basil, cabbage and leafy salads, Siberian eggplant and early ripening mushroom
picker, radish. Peppers and cucumbers can be planted together in a greenhouse, but the
neighborhood of tomatoes is undesirable and possible only if the ridge with them is fenced
with a different crop. Corn grows well next to cucumbers, they can coexist both on different
and on the same bed. The only thing you may need additional processing plants for the ovary
of the fruit.
Plant pepper
Bell peppers are grown by many gardeners. It is ideal for fresh consumption, endowed with a
pleasant taste and aroma, as part of it has many vitamins, perfectly complements the salad of
fresh vegetables. Also, the pepper goes on blanks for winter; there is nothing better than to
open a fragrant jar of lecho made from locally grown peppers on a frosty day.

This culture can be planted in a staggered manner, it is quite calm about the thickening of
planting and shade, so safely plant seven plants per square meter. The thicker the planting, the
richer the harvest! Fertilizers need mineral and organic, stable ventilation of the greenhouse,
good watering. So, with what you can plant pepper in the greenhouse?

Peppers are great with eggplants, as both cultures are solanaceous. But too close to each other
plants can cause a decrease in the yield of both. We said that you can plant in a greenhouse
with tomatoes and peppers, they grow well next to each other. If you have a desire to put in
the greenhouse and eggplants, build the beds in this order: eggplants - tomatoes - peppers.
Onions, lovage and basil, too, do not harm the peppers and will develop themselves perfectly.
Joint planting of cucumbers in a greenhouse with peppers can be done quite calmly, these
cultures are friends.
Eggplant
Many growers grow eggplants. The most optimal variant of planting culture - in the
greenhouse. In a protected soil, the plant will develop faster, more ovaries will appear,
respectively, and fruits. Growing in a greenhouse, eggplant will produce more yield than
when grown in open areas. The plant loves moisture, the sun, high-quality top dressing.
Fertilizers should alternate. At the first stages of development, organic matter will be needed,
mineral fertilizers, more calcium and potassium are needed at the fruit ovary stage. Do not
plant the plants too thickly, the harvest will drop significantly due to lack of sun, eggplants do
not like cramping.

What you can plant eggplants in the greenhouse, if they are so capricious? Of course, co-
cultivation is difficult, but still possible. We already wrote that the culture gets along well
with peppers and tomatoes. If the peppers should be located a little distance away, fenced by
another ridge, then the tomatoes also need to be planted. First, there must be space between
the beds of eggplants and tomatoes in order to keep as much extra light as possible. Secondly,
planting tomatoes next to eggplants, choose a low-growing variety. If the tomatoes are high,
they will shade the eggplants, and they will grow small, and the bushes will be weak.

It will be good to grow next to the eggplant onions and does not harm their capricious
neighbor. You can plant a melon, it also grows well in a greenhouse, it does not obscure
eggplants, it does not prevent their growth.

We propose to continue the review of what can be planted in the greenhouse. Let us turn to
the greenery, which is so fond of growing indoors. The thing is that in this way you can have
a fresh, young lettuce, dill, onion (feathers) on the table the whole season, because with the
right planting you can harvest several harvests a year.
Salad
This crop needs a soil rich in organic fertilizers. It is recommended to plant in rows, the
distance between which will be on average twenty centimeters, it is necessary for the proper
formation of bushes. If you plant seeds every two weeks, the harvest will be stable and you
will be able to have fresh salad greens until the end of the season. Culture loves good
moisture, loose soil, stable fertilization. What can be planted in the same greenhouse with
lettuce?

If you have plans - to have a greenhouse in which only greens will grow, you can plant dill,
parsley, basil, onion and on feathers, cabbages and leafy salads - all this harmonizes perfectly
with each other. The only thing you need to plant onions on a separate bed, if you want to get
onions, because for the formation of the heads need a lot of space.

With lettuce, cabbage will be excellent, both leaf and head. Salad can be planted between the
bushes of cucumbers, tomatoes and peppers. Eggplant will also be convenient to coexist with
the salad. By planting these crops together, you will get rid of unnecessary trouble. That is,
fertilizing and watering tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and eggplants, you will immediately
carry out the necessary procedures for the salad. All these cultures love moisture, loose soil,
top dressing.
Unwanted co-cultivation
We wrote that it is possible to combine tomatoes and cucumbers in one greenhouse, but with
the observance of certain rules. What you can plant in a greenhouse, and which crops can not
be combined, we have already told, but what to do if you have a closed ground worth its
weight in gold, and you want to plant cucumbers and tomatoes? Their joint cultivation is not
recommended, but you can still try. Use further advice and you will not lose a crop.

The first thing every vegetable grower should remember is that cucumbers, unlike tomatoes,
do not like airing, they are too susceptible to infections, these gentle creatures like heat, lack
of drafts, and if they do not follow the rules, there will be a lot of hollow flowers will begin to
turn yellow.

Cucumbers require greenhouse conditions for quality growth, a lot of water. And this does not
stand tomatoes. They need fresh air, too wet soil can cause rot in the roots, fungal diseases,
which not only adversely affect the yield, but also can ruin the plants. Of course, planting on
separate beds is permissible, but what to do with airing?

You can plant tomatoes closer to the exit, and place cucumbers on distant beds. If you put
them in the butt, you will be able to make a fence, for this you need a film. Attach it to the
ceiling to get a curtain, take a wooden stick and attach it to the bottom of the film, wrapping
and locking it. Now you can lift this curtain to go to the cucumbers and make all the necessary
procedures, and they will be fenced off from tomatoes, and when airing the draft the fence
will not lift because it is weighted with a stick. Cucumbers will quietly grow in their
"greenhouse" without disturbing the tomatoes, not sharing their heat and moisture with them,
and you use the whole place of the greenhouse, plant all the necessary crops, and the crop will
be high, since all the conditions for the tomatoes and cucumbers are created good growth.

Hot peppers in no case planted in the same greenhouse with other crops. You can not make a
joint landing, even with sweet peppers. When over-pollinating, which necessarily happens,
the taste of tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers will be sharp, even the burning sensation
characteristic of hot peppers may be present. So you just spoil the taste of the entire crop of
the greenhouse. For such a "hot" plant, create a small greenhouse in which it will be far away
from other crops.

It is worth remembering that planting a row of asparagus beans will help increase the
productivity of tomatoes, but peas are completely contraindicated for them. Cucumbers will
not be able to coexist with sage, it inhibits the plant, will cause low yields. Now we propose to
proceed to the consideration of the question of what to do if you want to grow root crops or
melons.

A little more about joint landings

As mentioned earlier, so that the greenhouse does not stand idle in the spring, you can plant
various greens in it, and after it is harvested, plant the main crops. We offer you another
option. In April, early beet varieties can be planted in the greenhouse. When the time comes
to plant the tomatoes, the roots will grow well, between them calmly place the seedlings.
Together, these cultures will grow perfectly, not interfere with each other. When the tomato
seedlings grow to such an extent that they shade the beets, the roots can be harvested, they
will be ready for harvest. Thus, you can get early beets, and the territory of the greenhouse
will be used to the maximum. After harvesting the root crops, again, you can “ennoble” the
vacated areas by planting lettuce, dill and parsley, and you will again win.

Well in the greenhouse with the tomatoes will grow watermelons and melons. Gourds can be
planted and mixed with tomatoes, and on a separate garden bed. The second option is more
acceptable, since melons and watermelons do not like drafts very much, but they do not need
the greenhouse effect like cucumbers. Plant a crop just on a remote garden bed or along the
walls of a greenhouse behind tomato bushes, watermelons and melons like a lot of sunlight.
Planting melons for tomatoes is useful because they attract more bees to pollination by their
smell, insects, having arrived for a sweet aroma, will also be engaged in tomatoes.
Watermelons ripen no faster than many varieties of tomatoes, harvesting is done on average
ninety days after planting. Thus, the greenhouse will be used entirely throughout the season.
We learned that with what you can plant in the greenhouse, and what combinations should be
avoided. But for the quality of the crop, it is necessary to properly prepare a closed ground, it
depends on how well all crops planted in the greenhouse will grow.

Greenhouse preparation for the season

Vegetables planted in greenhouses, unlike those that grow in the open, practically do not
receive nutrients from the external environment, so you should take care of the condition and
content of the soil in advance. In addition to regular dressings, cultivated plants need high-
quality earth, which will meet all the requirements - this is good breathability, absorbency,
light composition.

If the plot is stably used to set up a greenhouse, then the ground is already rather exhausted
and cannot give all the nutrients to the plants. The best option is to completely change the soil
by removing the old one from the greenhouse and placing the new one. If this possibility is
not available, then it is possible to make enrichment measures, for this, apply the maximum of
organic matter and mineral fertilizers two weeks before planting.

In addition to fertilizers, the earth needs to be disinfected, because from last year’s crops there
could remain pathogenic bacteria, spores of fungal diseases.

If the greenhouse is being built on the site for the first time, it is worthwhile to properly divide
the zone into beds. Any length is possible, but the width should not be more than 90
centimeters. They can be located on an elevation (35-40 centimeters above the ground) or
flush with the ground. The soil should be mixed with peat, manure, a complex of minerals.

Having learned how to use each centimeter of greenhouse soil correctly, you will increase
productivity, save the territory of the site.
