The geological location of the Philippines affects not just the adaptation of the
environment but also the economic growth of the country. Locating in the region of the
Pacific Ring of Fire delays businesses, transportation, livelihoods, increases casualties,
and damages infrastructure caused by natural disasters. The government expenditures
increased year by year, and as climate change continues to be disastrous, the
rehabilitation and renovation of the victimized areas also increased. In addition, the
government spends more on risk reduction than disaster prevention.

In Japan, experience has been their basis for many times. The country is
frequently centered and visited by different natural disasters. the Japanese improved
their disaster plan and focused more in disaster prevention. They designed a well-
framed plans to not just protect the people but also the infrastructures.

The government should elevate disaster readiness. We can’t stop the disaster,
but we can prevent and lessen the damages, both to lives and to the economy. A well-
prepared and planned nation will not just help the people but also help the economy to
rehabilitate in various ways. The Philippines encounters and continues to experience
different natural disasters every year. Improving disaster plans and awareness will
make a huge difference in every catastrophic event, such as these disasters.
