Upon learning the first exam coverage of Forensic Photography, I came to realize that
capturing good pictures today just by easily clicking technologies is far different than the process
of photography in history. Because in today’s 21st century development, photographs are
majorly aided by technological advancement leading to the production of camera accessories
and such. However, before the development, photography was not as easy as it seems.

Upon knowing the origins of cameras, I was able to learn how pictures were taken and
produced historically. Including its beginnings and photographic process that would take so
much time to develop. More than that, I was also taught that photography started from the
concept of artistic aspect, and that every latent image could be produced by the use of light
sources. I also came to know the different pioneers of photography that helped create a
fundamental understanding of its function. Without these significant people, it would be so
difficult to realize how photography plays an important role in recording visual information and
scenes. With their contributions, they started the basic concept in the field of photography
leading to what we are efficiently enjoying now, especially when taking pictures. Moreover, their
demonstrations and findings helped to establish a standardized system for cameras to be used
in order to let it properly function. We can include the Camera Obscura, Daguerreotype, and
Heliograph as one of the greatest contributions in photography because it helped to learn the
process and how they were developed. The important years included in the coverage
significantly taught me how the field of photography has been slowly enhancing up until now.
Then I realized that the origins of this topic are useful in today’s technological advancements
because it is not just applied to recording scenes but also useful in the field of forensic, legal
presentations and police reports. With its helpful foundation in photography, I learned how it
gradually came to a concept that it can be used in wide aspects especially when it comes to
crime scene operation.

It is necessary to learn the origins and development of photography, because it helped

me to develop a ground understanding about its processes and how pictures are developed
traditionally and modernly. The first exam coverage of Forensic Photography significantly
enhanced my knowledge which could be necessary for understanding the further topics that will
be discussed in the second, third and final examination coverage.
