The Pirate John Chapter photo description (these are ¼-1/2 page

drawings that capture the chapter and are located at the end of each
chapter)
Chapter 1. This is a simple map showing Newfoundland and the outline of Ireland with the
Atlantic ocean in the middle. The purpose of this illustration is to show the reader the close
proximity of Newfoundland to Ireland. (the depiction for this is fine)

Chapter 2. The purpose of this drawing would be to depict the early harbor of St. John’s
Newfoundland. Perhaps a drawing of a shipping vessel at anchor. Again, this is to show early
days of a port in the new world. Rather than just show a ship at a dock, perhaps show a
primitive harbor with a couple of ships being loaded/unloaded. Note: This is before the
introduction of pirates in the book so there should be no skull and crossbones.

Chapter 3. The purpose of this would be to show a pirate schooner (maybe a skull and
crossbones on a sail?); a depiction similar to the cover of an early sailing ship. OK now to add
the skull and crossbones to the sail (perhaps only once not on every sail please).

Chapter 4. Ideally this picture would show and outline of the Cocos island locate off the coast of
Costa Rica, and the picture would title the island the Cocos island.

Chapter 5. The drawing would depict a crumpled piece of paper with the Cocos island outline
and some markings towards the north side of the island depicting where the treasure was
buried.

Chapter 6. Drawing showing Indians shooting arrows from the shore towards a small boat
rowing to the shore.

Chapter 7. This picture is a simple map (outline) of South America with Drakes passage marked
on the south tip of South America.

Chapter 8. This picture is of men digging and uncovering treasure chests. The chests are
elaborate and overflowing with jewels.

Chapter 9. This picture is of men pushing and dragging the Edgecombe off the beach to deeper
water.

Chapter 10. This picture is an outline of the coast of South America showing the port of
Valparaiso Chile.

Chapter 11. This picture is a simple outline of Cuba with the port of Havana marked on it.
Chapter 12. This picture is a picture of John’s large house and barn in St. John Newfoundland.
