Hi guys so today we are going to be discussing the essay titled Ang Alegaryo Ng Yungib.

In this Essay,Plato and Aristotle argue about the true reality which humans perceive. Aristotle bases his
argument on nature while Plato bases his argument upon the human psyche. Plato goes on to say that
there are “people who live in a cave,a cave with a pathway leading to the light that engulfs it. That these
people have been living in that cave their whole lives, and their arms, legs and even their heads are
chained,so they cannot move. Not far, from above and behind them, there is a fiery flame, and in the
middle of the flame and those who are “prisoners”,there is a pathway that goes up. And if your gaze
drifts to its lower wall, you would be able to compare it to that of a puppet show.”

Now,what does this mean? It means that,to Plato, everyone on this world is a prisoner. Prisoners that
cannot perceive the true reality of this world. The fire that is behind these prisoners is the reality of the
world. These prisoners cannot look towards the fire, but can only see their shadows reflecting from it.
Those shadows represent the vision of the prisoners’ truth. What Plato was truly trying to explain is that
humans will never be able to see the entirety of the truth in this world.
