POOR ANA

CHAPTER
1.
Ana has problems: mom yells, dad won't
give her money b/c they're poor, Don
never helps, and Patty steals her clothes.
Ana has two friends: Elsa and Sara (both
rich). Ana has material problems.

2. CHAPTER

Ana can't find her book, mom yells at her,


Don doesn't help. Ana finds it on her bed.
Ana is jealous of Sara's new Calvin Klein
shirt. Sra. Borda tells of opportunity to
live with a family in Mexico at no cost.
Ana wants to go. Ana tells her dad, dad
says too expensive, Ana says it's free,
dad says yes.

CHAPTER
3.
Sra. Borda tells Ana that Mexico is very different
and families are poor. Ana's family, Elsa, and Sara
see Ana off. Ana flies to Guadalajara then Tepic,
Nayarit (a state in Mexico). The Sánchez family is
not at the airport. Ana is scared. Ana takes a taxi to
her new house. Family is sorry they weren't at the
airport. Ana talks with Juana and Susana. She likes
her new family.

4. CHAPTER
Ana, Juana, and Susana go to the gym, park, pool,
and "Gigante". Tortillas are being sold in front of
Gigante. Girls go to the bank and Ana exchanges
dollars for pesos. She then buys a taco from a taco
cart. She compares it to tacos from Taco Bell. The
girls go back to the house, and mom yells b/c radio
is too loud.

CHAPTER
Ana goes to the gym and meets
Patricia. They go to Patricia's house
and talk. Patricia goes to a private
school with uniforms. Ana and Patricia
become good friends..

6.
CHAPTER
Patricia and Ana go to a dance. Ana
meets Ricardo and he teaches her how to
dance the Cumbia in 30 mins. Ana and
Ricardo converse. Ricardo says there are
no perfect families. Ana, Patricia, and
Ricardo go to Ricardo's house and talk.

7
TDay before Ana leaves for
California. Says good bye to
Patricia (kisses on cheeks).
Patricia plans to visit Ana next
summer.

7 CONTINUATION

Ana says good bye to Ricardo. The


Sánchez family accompanies Ana
to the airport. Once Ana arrives in
the LA airport, her family and
friends are waiting for her.

CHAPTER
8
Ana realizes how fortunate her
family is to have a car and a
"big" house

8 Ana sees how her friends all want


material things, but she doesn't
have that problem anymore. Ana
gets a letter from Ricardo telling
her about the classes he's taking
and how Patricia, Juana, and
Susana are doing.

CHAPTER
Ana has let go of material needs.
Ana talks to Paul (student body
president) about a clothes drive for
less fortunate families in Mexico.

9 At the next dance, instead of an


entrance fee, clothes are donated.
These clothes are sent to Tepic to
Ricardo, Patricia, and Susana's
school. Ana is happy and her life is
perfect.
