Babu’s Song

Exposition
Bernardi wants to go to school and play soccer with the other boys, but his grandfather,
Babu, can't afford to send him.

Rising Action
Bernardi spends his days at the market, selling Babu's handmade toys to make ends meet.
One night, Babu gifts Bernardi a special music box that plays a song he used to sing
before losing his voice.

Climax

The next day Bernardi plays the music box while selling toys at the market, and a tourist
offers him a large sum of money for the unique toy.

Falling Action

Bernardi gives the money to Babu. Babu, in turn, uses the money to give Bernardi a very
special present: a school uniform so he can attend school.

Resolution
Because of the money they made from selling the toys, Bernardi is now able to attend
school. Babu's skill as a toy maker is acknowledged, and their lives were better together.
The Story of the Aged Mother
by: Matsuo Bashō

Exposition
A story of courage, love, hope, and survival between mother and son. An aged mother
who is willing to succumb to save a beloved son. A son who is willing to face anything to
save an aged mother, who for some is worthless.

Rising Action
The poor farmer loved his aged mother and the order filled his heart with sorrow.

Climax

The poor farmer after hearing what his mother have said immediately changed his mind
and decided not to leave her mother alone in the mountain

Falling Action

Both of them follow the pile of twigs and went home. He hide his mother at a closet of
their kitchen so that, the Heralds in Shinano will not find the old woman.

Resolution
.When the governor asked to give him a rope of ashes, the aged mother ordered the poor
farmer, her son, to make a rope of twisted straw, stretch it and burn it on a night without
wind
The Soul of the Great Bell
by: Lafcadio Hearn

Exposition
The wonderful music created when the bell was hit during the festival. The conflict of the
story is when Kouan-Yu failed to create a very great bell for the second time as instructed
by the Celestially August.

Rising Action
When the metal had been cast, and the earthen mould separated from the glowing casting,
it was discovered that despite their great labour and ceaseless care, the result was void of
worth; for the metals had rebelled one against the other- the gold had scorned alliance
with the brass, the silver would not mingle with the molten iron.

Climax

Ko- Ngai ngai jumped into the mixing of the marterials needed for making the bell and
save her father's life

Falling Action

the father of Kongai, wild with his grief, would have leaped in after her, but that strong
men held him back and kept firm grasp upon him until he fainted away, and they could
bear him like one dead to his home.

Resolution
.Yong-Lo's daughter, Kouan-Yu jumped in the pit of molten metal (used for the bell) to
save his father from punishment
Ibong Adarna

Exposition

The story centers about catching the mythical bird that possesses magical powers. The
Adarna bird is so beautiful and could change in a lot of stunning forms. It is very much
hard to catch. It knows a total of seven songs which could either enchant anyone to sleep,
turn into stone or heal a deadly sickness.

Rising Action
The three brothers, Don Diego, Don Pedro, and Don Juan went on a mission to capture the Ibong
Adarna to heal their sick father.

Climax

Don Juan tried to rescue the two princess, princess Juana and princess Leonora.

Falling Action

The two brothers Don Diego and Don Pedro beat their brother Don Juan and tied in a tree
out of jealousy towards their brother Don Juan..

Resolution
Don Juan successfully captures the Ibong Adarna, restores his brothers, and heads back to
the palace.
