(a) You want a TV in your room, you found the following hire purchase information from adverts in the
newspaper:
32 inch LED TV @ R3 800, 10% deposit, 2 years to pay @ 8,2 % p.a. interest
36 inch LCD TV @ R4 200, 5% deposit, 3 years to pay @ 8% p.a. interest
(1) The price given for these TVs excludes 14% VAT, calculate the VAT for each of the
TVs. (3)
(2) Calculate the payment per month and the total amount spent on each of the TVs.
