Product Description
Stepan Oilfield Solutions’ PETROSTEP® KB-1303 is an oxyalkylated triol or poloxyalkylene glycerol designed to effectively
demulsify a wide variety of crude, processed and refined oils in operations worldwide. Besides showing effective use in crude oil
demulsification and desalting, PETROSTEP KB-1303 is very effective in tank treating and paraffin dispersing. PETROSTEP KB-
1303 enhances demulsifier and paraffin treatment formulations through effective solids wetting, leaving good water quality and
a clean interface.

Formulation and Application

For application, PETROSTEP KB-1303 intermediate needs to be diluted and formulated with other intermediates to be most
effective. The typical level of PETROSTEP KB-1303 will be between 10 and 35 wt% in the active portion of the finished product,
although some applications will require up to 50 wt%. For paraffin treatment, PETROSTEP KB-1303 has successfully been used
as a major and minor component in the formulation.

Application of a finished formulation containing PETROSTEP KB-1303 should be at the point of easiest application, where the
most mixing can be obtained. Formulations containing this product work best in well agitated crudes followed by a period of
quiescence to allow separation. Application rates for formulated products will typically range from 50 – 200 ppm in desalting,
and 100 – 5,000 ppm in crude oil dehydration and paraffin treatments, depending on the crude oil.
