1. Birth

Two thousand years ago an angel named Gabriel visited a woman named Mary from the city of
Nazareth, he told this Jewish woman that she was going to have a son and that her son's name
would be Jesus because he would be the son of God. Mary was a virgin and she was going to
marry a man named Joseph. When he found out that Mary was pregnant he was confused and
wanted to leave her, but he didn't want anyone to find out so people wouldn't hurt her, but the
angel Gabriel came to Joseph and told him exactly what Mary had already told Joseph, that this
baby was the son of God, his name would be Jesus and that he would save his people from sin.

At that time Caesar Augustus was ruling and asked his servants to count all the people living in
Rome, so Mary and Joseph traveled to the land of Bethlehem to fulfill this law. By this time Mary
was already several months pregnant and yet they traveled for several days on a donkey until
they reached the place, but they could not find any place to spend the night, because everything
was full of people. But when the owner of a small place saw that Maria was about to have her
baby, he offered them to stay in the stable.

Mary and Joseph went into the place where there were animals and put the child in an animal's
feeding box.

During this time an angel appeared to a group of shepherds tending their sheep in the fields
near Bethlehem and told them he had good news because the Messiah, the savior of the world
had been born. The shepherds left everything to go see the baby because the angel told them
that they would find him sleeping in an animal's feeding box.

After some time the three wise men saw the bright star (shinny star) in the sky, this star was just
above the stable where the newborn Jesus was. These men came from the east and asked the
people of Jerusalem where the newborn King of Jerusalem was because they saw the bright
star and had come to worship him, when King Herod heard this he was concerned and told them
after they found the baby to tell him where he was. When the wise men arrived at the stable,
they worshipped the living God and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. Then they
returned to their land by another way because they knew that King Herod wanted to kill the
baby.

2. Childhood

Every year, Mary and Joseph went to Jerusalem for the Passover festival. When Jesus was 12
years old his parents took him to Jerusalem. When the week was over, Mary and Joseph
returned home. But Jesus stayed behind and his parents didn't notice. They thought he was
among the group they were traveling with. They traveled for a day and then began to look for
him among their friends and family. When they couldn't find him they returned to Jerusalem and
looked for him there. After 3 days they found him in the temple. He was sitting there with the
teachers, he was listening to what they were saying and he was also asking them questions.
Everyone listening to Jesus was very surprised, he understood many things and could answer
difficult questions. When his parents saw him there, they were also surprised. His mother said to
him, "My son, why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been looking for you
everywhere, we were worried, so Jesus said to them: "Why were you looking for me? I must do
what my father wants me to do. But they did not understand what he was saying to them. Then
they returned to Nazareth and Jesus obeyed his parents. Jesus grew into a man and could
understand more and more things. People thought he was a good man and God thought well of
him.

3. John baptizes Jesus

Jesus went from Galilee to the Jordan River. He wanted John to baptize him, but John tried to
stop him and said "I must ask you to baptize me, you must not ask me to baptize you", then
Jesus said to him: "this time, do what I ask you to do, we must do everything correctly, as God
wants it", then John did what Jesus asked him to do.

When John baptized him, Jesus came up out of the water and at that moment, the heavens
opened. Jesus saw the Spirit of God coming down and he came down like a dove and stood
over Jesus, then a voice spoke from heaven and said: "this man is my son and I love him, he
makes me very happy".

Jesus was 30 years old when he began his ministry.

4. Jesus chooses 12 men

One day Jesus went to a mountain to pray, he spent the whole night praying with God. In the
morning he called his disciples and chose 12 of them and called them his apostles. These are
the names: Simon (Jesus gave him the name Peter), Andrew (he was Simon's brother), James,
John, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James, the son of Alphaeus, Simon the Zealot,
Judas, son of James, Judas Iscariot. He was the one who delivered Jesus to the people who
were against him.

5. Milagros

5.1. Jesus turns water into wine

Jesus' mother went to a wedding in a town called Cana, in the region of Galilee. Jesus
and his disciples were also invited. During the feast the people drank all the wine.
Then Mary told Jesus that they had no more wine there, and Jesus answered her:
"Why do you tell me this? because it was not yet the time for him to show who he was.

Then Mary told the servants to do whatever Jesus told them. There were six big jars
(big pots) for water, which were there for the Jews to wash in the way their rules
taught them. Each jar held one hundred liters. Then Jesus told the servants to fill
these jars with water.

The servants filled the jars to the top. Then Jesus said to them, "Now draw some out
and take it to the keeper of the feast, that he may taste it.

Then they brought him some, and the keeper of the feast tasted the water that had
been turned into wine, and was surprised, for he did not know where the wine had
come from. But the servants who had given it to him knew.
Then the party manager called the groom and said, "Everyone gives the best wine
first, and then, when the guests have had enough to drink, they give the cheapest
wine. But you are different, you have given the best wine for last."

Jesus did this first miracle in Cana of Galilee. In this way Jesus showed how great and
powerful he was. And his disciples believed in him.

Then Jesus went to a town called Capernaum. His mother, his brothers, and his
disciples went with him. And they stayed there for a few days.

5.2. A miraculous catch

One time, Jesus was on the shore of the Lake of Galilee, and there was a crowd near
him, listening to him because he was speaking God's message to them. Jesus saw
two boats on the shore. They were empty because the fishermen were washing their
nets. One of those boats belonged to Simon Peter. Jesus got into it and asked Peter
to move it a little away from the shore. Then he sat in the boat, and from there he
began to teach the people.

When Jesus had finished teaching them, he said to Peter, "Take the boat to the deep
part of the lake, and then put the nets in the water to catch some fish. Then
Peter answered, "Master, all night we worked very hard and caught nothing. But,
because you say so, I am going to put the nets in the water again.

So they went and put the nets in the water. When they did that, they caught a lot of
fish. There were so many fish that the nets began to break. Then Simon shouted to
the other fishermen working with him to go and help them. There were so many fish
that they filled both boats. And the boats began to sink. When Simon saw all the fish,
he knelt down in front of Jesus and said to him. "Lord, I am a bad man, please get
away from me."

Simon said this because he was very surprised that they had caught so many fish.
James, John and their friends in the other boat were also very surprised, they were
sons of Zebedee and worked with Simon. Jesus said to Simon "do not be afraid, you
have been catching fish, but now you will catch people".

After this they left and brought their boats to the shore. Then they left everything
behind and went with Jesus.

5.3. Jesus gives food to 5,000 men and their families

Jesus sailed (sailed) in a boat to go to a quiet place where he could be alone. But the
crowd heard where Jesus had gone. So they left their villages and walked to the place
where he was going. Jesus got out of the boat. He saw a large crowd (crowd) there on
the shore and felt compassion for them. There were sick people in the crowd and he
healed them.
When it was almost evening. Jesus' disciples came to talk with him. They told him,
"We are in a place where there are no houses. Soon it will be dark. Send the crowd
away now, so they can go to the villages near here. Then they can buy food so they
can eat." But Jesus said to them "the people do not need to go away, you must give
them food to eat". Then the disciples said "we have only 5 loaves of bread and two
fish".

Then Jesus said: "bring the bread and the fish here" and then told the crowd to "sit
down on the grass" he took the 5 pieces of bread and the two fish, looked up to
heaven and thanked God for the bread and the fish. Then he broke the bread into
pieces. He gave the pieces of bread to his disciples and they gave it to the crowd.
Then they all ate. They all had enough food and were no longer hungry. Then the
disciples picked up all the bits of food that the people did not eat and filled 12 baskets
with small pieces of bread and weighed them. About 5,000 men ate and also their
wives and children.

5.4. Jesus heals a man with a skin disease

One day a man who had a skin disease came to Jesus and knelt down in front of him
and said, "Lord, I know that you can heal me. Do you want to do it? Jesus felt
compassion for the man, he reached out (puto ut) his hand to the man and touched
him and said: I want to do it! You are healed! At that moment, the sickness left the
man; but Jesus sent him away with a strong warning:

Do not tell anyone what happened to you. Just go to the priest and bring him a gift for
God. Moses taught people what to bring to God when they are healed after this kind of
sickness. But the man began to tell everyone how Jesus healed him and because of
this it became very difficult for Jesus to enter the villages, everyone knew him. So
Jesus did not stay in the villages but in nearby places and people came from all over
to see him.

5.5. Jesus helps a man who cannot walk

After several days, Jesus returned to the town of Capernaum. And the people began
to say that he had returned so many people came to see him. The house was so full
that there was no longer an empty room and there were even people outside the
house. Then Jesus began to teach them the good news.

Then, four people came to the house. They were carrying a man on a mat, this man
could not walk or move his legs. But they couldn't get to where Jesus was because
there were too many people, so they climbed up on the roof and made a hole over the
place where Jesus was. They helped the man down through the hole. He was lying on
the mat. When Jesus saw the man and his friends, he knew that they believed in him
so he said to the man who could not walk, "Friend, I forgive you for the wrong things
you have done."

But some teachers of God's law were sitting there and they thought about the words
that Jesus had said to the man and said, "this man Jesus must not say those words,
he is talking as if he is God because only God can forgive people for the sins they
have done."
But Jesus realized what they were thinking, and said to them, "Why do you think this
way? Tell me, which is easier, to forgive this sick man, or to heal him? I am going to
show you that I, the Son of man, have authority here on earth to forgive sins."

Then he said to the man who could not walk: "Get up, take your mat and go home" at
this point he got up, took his mat and walked out of the house. They all saw them do
that and were very surprised. They praised God and said "Great is God, we have
never seen anything like this before".

5.6. Jesus heals two blind men

As Jesus and his disciples were leaving Jericho, a large crowd was following him.
There were two blind men sitting by the side of the road, and when they heard that
Jesus was walking there, they cried out, "Lord, Son of David, please be kind to us and
help us!

The people in the crowd were angry with them. And they told them that they should be
silent, but they shouted even louder, "Lord, Son of David, please help us!

Then Jesus stopped and asked the two men, "What do you want me to do for you?
They said to him, "Lord, we want to see again. Then Jesus had compassion on them
and touched their eyes. At that moment they could see and followed him.

6. Parables
Parables were short stories that Jesus made up to teach people. He used these stories
often because they were easy to remember and people learned much better.

6.1. Parable of the sower (sower)

That same day Jesus left the house, went to the lake of Galilee and sat near the shore
of the lake to teach the people. There were so many people around him that he had
to get into a boat and sit down to teach them. And the crowd stayed on the shore.
Jesus used stories to teach them many things. He said to them:

"Listen! The sower went out to plant seeds, as he threw the seeds some fell on the
path; then the birds came and ate them. Other seeds fell on ground that had rocks,
there was not much soil there, so those seeds began to grow fast because the soil
was not deep. But when the sun rose, the plants were burned and because they had
no roots, they died. Others fell among thorn bushes, those thorns grew with the plants
and did not let them grow. But other seeds fell on good soil and strong plants grew
from those seeds. Some plants made 100 new seeds, some 60, and some 30. Then
Jesus said to the crowd, listen to what I tell you.

- Jesus explains the parable of the sower

Then Jesus said, listen to me now and I will tell you what the story of the sower
means. Some people hear the message about the kingdom of God, but they do not
understand it. Satan comes and quickly takes the message out of their minds. The
seeds that fell on the road show such people. Other seeds fell on the ground with
rocks. This is like some people who hear God's message and these people are happy
to believe it for a while, but they are like plants that have no roots in the ground, so
they only believe for a short time. They may get into trouble or other people may do
bad things to them for obeying God's message and when this happens, those people
soon stop believing. Some seeds fell among thorns. This is like people who hear the
message of God, but they have many problems, they want to have more money and
more things. They think this will make them happy so they don't let God's message
change them. They are like plants that don't grow well and don't make new seeds. But
some seeds fell on good soil. This is like people who hear God's message and
understand it. These people are like good plants that grow well. From one seed, good
plants make 100 new seeds, another 60 seeds, and another 30 new seeds.

6.2. Parable of the good man of Samaria

A teacher of God's law stood up. He wanted to see how Jesus would answer his
question, so he asked Jesus: "Teacher, what must I do to live with God forever? And
Jesus asked him: "What does the law of God say, what do you understand when you
read it? Then the man answered: "It says that we must love the Lord our God with all
our mind and strength (strenght). We must love him with all that we are, in all that we
think. It also says that we should love other people as much as we love ourselves.

Then Jesus answered him, you told me the right answer, if you do this you will have a
life with God. But the man wanted to show that his way of living was right, so he asked
Jesus, "Who are the people I should love? Jesus answered him with a story: a man
was walking from Jerusalem to Jericho, on the way some men attacked him
(attacked), took all his clothes and beat him with sticks. He was almost dead when the
men left him. But a priest was walking by that place and saw the man lying there. But
he kept walking on the other side of the road. A Levite was also walking there and
came to the place where the man was lying, and saw him, but he also walked on.
Then a man of Samaria who was walking there came to the place where the man was
lying, saw him and felt compassion for him. He came to him and put oil and wine on
the places where he was bleeding, then bound (tie) those places with clean clothes,
put him on his animal to carry him. They arrived at a small hotel, she left the man
there and was kind to him.

The next day, the man gave two silver coins to the man who was taking care of the
hotel and said "be kind to this man for my sake, if this money is not enough, when I
come back I will pay you for what you spend on him". Then Jesus asked the teacher
of God's law. Three men saw the man lying on the road, which one of them showed
him love, like a true friend? The teacher answered: "the man who was kind to him",
then Jesus replied: "yes, then you should go and do the same for other people".

6.3. Parable of wheat and weeds

Jesus told the people another story. He said, "The kingdom of heaven is like a sower
who sowed some good seeds of wheat in his field. But one night, when everyone was
asleep, an evil person came into the sower's field. And this bad person planted weeds
among the wheat seeds, then left. The good seeds grew and the plants began to
make new seeds. But when this happened, the weeds also grew. Then the servants of
the sower came to talk to him and said, "Sir, you planted only good seeds in your field,
but now many weeds are also growing there. how did this happen? They asked him.

The sower said to his servants, "an evil person who doesn't like me has done this" so
the servants asked the sower, "do you want us to go and pull up those weeds? And
the sower replied "no, I don't want you to do that. If you pull up the weeds, you can
also pull up some of the wheat seeds. Let the good and bad plants grow together and
at harvest time I will tell the workers to cut the weeds first and burn them. Then they
will cut the wheat and bring it to my house, and I will store it there.

- Jesus explains the parable of the wheat and the weeds

Jesus said: the son of man is like the sower who planted the good seeds in the field.
The field is like the world. The good seeds are the people who belong to the kingdom
of God. The weeds are the people who belong to the devil. The devil is the bad person
who planted the seeds in the field. The time of harvest is like the end of time. The
angels of God are the workers who cut the plants.

In the story, the workers cut down the weeds and burned them in the fire. When this
world ends, it will happen like this. The son of man will send his workers who are his
angels. They will remove from his kingdom all that has sin. They will take away all
those who do evil things. The angels will throw those bad people into the fire. But the
people who obey God will shine like the sun. They will be in the kingdom of their
Father. Then Jesus said, "You have ears, so listen to what I say.

6.4. Parable of the son who left home

There was a man who had two sons. The younger son went to his father and said,
"Father, please give me my share of your things," so the father gave his two sons the
share of his things that each of them should have. After a few days, the younger son
sold what his father had given him. Then he took all the money and left the house. He
took a trip to a far away country. There, he did everything he wanted and spent all his
money. After he had spent it all, there was no rain in that country and there was no
food. So he had nothing to eat, he went to a man who lived in that country and asked
him if he could work with him. The man sent him to his fields to feed his pigs. Nobody
gave him anything to eat. He even wanted to eat the food that the pigs were eating.

Then the son began to think about all that he had done. And he said, "My father has
many servants and they have plenty of food to eat. They even have more food than
they need. But I will die here because I have no food. So I will go to my father and I
will tell him "I have done bad things against (against) God, and I have done bad things
against you, so I am not good to be your son, please accept me as one of your
servants." Then he returned to his father and when his father saw him, he felt sorry for
his son and ran to him. Then he hugged and kissed him. Then the son said, "father, I
have done bad things against God and against you, they are not good to be your son".
But the father shouted to his servants: "quick" (hurry) get the most beautiful coat we
have and put it on (put it on), also put on a ring and shoes. Kill a goat and prepare it,
we will eat and be happy together, because I thought my son was dead, but now he
came back, I thought he had left me forever, but now he came home. Then everyone
was happy together.

6.5. Parable about a sheep that a man has lost

Then, Jesus told them this story: think of a man who has 100 sheep and loses one of
them. What does he do? He leaves the other sheep in his fields and then goes to look
for the sheep he has lost. He searches until he finds it and when he finds it, he is very
happy. He picks it up (lift) and puts it on his shoulders, then carries it back home. He
talks to his friends and people who live near him and says: "I have found the sheep I
lost, come to my house and we can all be happy together". When a person stops
doing bad things, it is like the story, that person makes those who live in heaven with
God happy. They will be happier for one person than for 99 people who already obey
God.

6.6. Parable about a coin that a woman has lost.

Jesus told them another story: now think of a woman who has 10 valuable coins and
loses one of them. What does she do? She lights a lamp and sweeps her house. She
searches carefully until she finds the coin. Then she tells all her friends and those who
live near her. She tells them "I have found the coin I lost, come to my house and we
can all be happy together" when a person stops doing bad things, it makes the angels
and everyone in heaven very happy.

- The message
With the parables of: the son who left his home, the sheep that a man has lost and the
coin that a woman has lost, Jesus wanted to teach that people who have done bad
things, but ask for forgiveness God receives them in his house with joy, Jesus says
that God is happy when a person repents and returns to the good way and with the
story of the lost sheep explains that every soul has a value for God and therefore
leaves the 99 to look for that soul that has been lost.

7. Death of Jesus

7.1. Jesus eats the last supper with his disciples

On the first day of the feast of unleavened bread (flat bread festival) the disciples
came to Jesus and asked him: Where shall we prepare the passover meal for you?
Jesus said to them, "Go with a man into the city and say to him: the teacher says: this
is the time that God has prepared for me, I will eat the passover meal with my
disciples in your house." So the disciples did as he had said and went and prepared
the Passover meal.

In the evening, Jesus and his 12 apostles sat down together to eat and while they
were eating Jesus said: one of you will betray me (betray) they were very sad
because of what Jesus said. Each one of them said to Jesus: will I betray you? And
Jesus said to them; the man who will give me rulers (rulers) is eating from the same
plate as me. Judas was the one who would give Jesus to the Jewish leaders. But he
said to Jesus, "Teacher, shall I betray you? And Jesus said to him, "Yes, you said so.

While Jesus and his disciples were eating, he took a loaf of bread, he thanked God for
it and broke the bread into pieces. He gave a piece to each of them and said: "take
this bread and eat it, this is my body". Then Jesus took a cup, thanked God for the
wine and said: this is my blood which shows God's promise. When I die, my blood will
pour out of my body and in that way God will forgive many people for the bad things
they have done. That is the promise God makes by my death. Then Jesus and his
disciples sang a song to praise God and went to the mount of olives.

7.2. Soldiers capture (take hold of) Jesus

While Jesus was speaking, Judas arrived. He was one of the 12 disciples. A crowd
also came with him. They were carrying swords and heavy sticks. The leaders of the
priests and the important Jews sent these people with Judas. He was ready to help
the Jewish leaders to capture Jesus, but before this, he told them; "I will kiss one of
the men and you must capture that man" so, Judas went to Jesus and said: "hello
master" and then he kissed Jesus in a frendly way.

Jesus said to him: "my friend, now do what you have come to do" then the crowd
came to Jesus and captured him, when one of the disciples took his sword and cut off
the ear of a servant of the priest. Then Jesus said to his disciple: put your sword in its
place because people who use a sword to kill others, they will die in the same way,
someone will kill them with a sword. You should know that I could ask my father God
to help me and he would send more than 12 groups of angels to fight for me and they
would save me. But the things that God has said in the Bible about this would not
happen, so it must happen this way.

At that moment Jesus said to the crowd: you came here with swords and sticks to
capture me, do you think I taught the people to fight against the rulers of our country?
No! I taught you every day in the temple, but you did not try to capture me there, the
prophets (prophets) wrote that this would happen and now it has come true. Then all
the disciples ran and left him.

7.3. Crucifixion
Every year the governor released one person from prison, but the people chose who.
At that time there was a man named Barabbas, he had done bad things and everyone
knew it, but when Pilate asked them who do you want me to release Barabbas or
Jesus? They answered that they chose Barabbas. But Pilate knew why the Jewish
leaders had brought Jesus. They were jealous because the people liked him so much.
Pilate thought he had done no wrong but the people shouted louder, "Kill him on a
cross! So he let Barabbas go and told his soldiers to beat Jesus many times with a
whip and then put him on a cross to die. The soldiers took off his clothes and used
branches with thorns to make a crown for him, the soldiers spat in his face and
laughed at him. Then they took him to Golgotha and the soldiers put him on the cross
and placed near him two thieves, one was on his right side and the other on his left
side, the people who walked near there said bad things against Jesus and laughed at
him. Also the priests and the teachers of the law said: this man saved other people,
but he cannot save his own life, he should come down from the cross now and then
we will believe in him.

It was noon when the country became dark for three hours, in the afternoon when
Jesus died, the curtain of the temple was torn in two parts, there was a tremor and the
stones were broken in pieces. Then Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for the body of
Jesus to bury (burry), put the body in a new tomb and also put a rock at the entrance
and left.

8. Resurrection
After the day of rest, Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James got up early and
went to the tomb. When the earth moved and an angel came from heaven, his clothes
were white and he moved the stone. The soldiers fell to the ground and could not move.
Then the angel told the women that Jesus had risen and that he was going to Galilee.
Then he told them that they should go and tell his disciples, so the women went away,
they were afraid, but they were also very happy, at that moment Jesus appeared to the
women and said "do not be afraid, go and tell my disciples to go to Galilee to meet us
there".

The soldiers told everything that happened to the priests, but they gave them money so
that they would not tell everyone, and they also told them that they should tell that the
disciples came and they removed the rock in the night, then the soldiers took the money
and told the people the story that the leaders told them, even today they believe that it
happened like that.
8.1. Jesus appears to his apostles

After what happened the 11 disciples went to Galilee and when they arrived they saw
Jesus, they knelt down and worshiped him and Jesus said to them: "God has given
me authority over everything and everyone, I have authority in heaven and in this
world, so you must go to the people of every country in the world and teach them how
to become my disciples. Baptize them in the name of God the Father, the Son and the
Holy Spirit. Teach them to obey all that I have taught them. You can be sure that I will
always be with you until the end of the world.
