Sub - Allocation of co-supervisor for Mr. Rashmi Ranjan Samal (Roll no. 2281061)

Dear Sir,

I would like to bring to your notice that Mr. Rashmi Ranjan Samal joined as a Ph.D. research
scholar under my supervision in 2022. He shall complete his course work this semester and
has already started his Ph.D. work.

I would like to share that the research area for Mr. Rashmi Ranjan Samal was decided to
evaluate the effect of mode choice among road users on traffic flow. However, while going
through literature review, research gaps were identified related to environmental impact of
mode choice/ more use of private vehicles on road. Therefore, it was decide that the Ph.D.
work of Rashmi Ranjan Samal shall not only assess the impact of mode choice on traffic flow
in terms of congestion and delays but also on environment in terms of vehicular emissions
and noise pollution.

Since, vehicular emissions leading to air pollution or noise pollution from excessive honking
are a part of Environmental Engg. specialisation, I have talked with Dr. Kundan Samal,
Assistant Professor, SCE and he is actively participating in the meetings for helping Mr.
Rashmi to understand various topics (like concepts, guidelines, etc.) related to fuel and
vehicular emissions. Therefore, since Dr. Kundan Samal has a vast knowledge in the
environmental aspect of the work, I would request you to please allow him to be a co-
supervisor for Mr. Rashmi Ranjan Samal.

I will be obliged if you consider my request of allocation of Dr. Kundan Samal as Co-
Supervisor.
