Manufacturing Setup Templates

Information.

This package provides several Setup Templates for NX

Manufacturing.

If installing one or several specific templates, you will have to manually select the required data from
content and paste into NX installation environment. For custom environment, take contact with
responsible person/company.
In package we provide a simplified 2D machine, this machine can later on during programming easily be
replaced with your real machine from the Machine Tool Library.
You can also customize the template files for your own purposes and needs.

Machine Simulation for Tool path or CSE will not be supported as well as using synchronize manager.

Installation.
Administrator rights might be requried for installation.

To start using the template files, a few steps first needs to be completed in NX environment files.
The file locations in the content package represent NX standard installation structure.

Machine Library.
add_to_machine_database.dat contains the machine reference information to be added into
machine_database.dat file.

NX CAM Setup Template : Workflow
Important! If NX was open while modifying the environment files, restarting NX will be required.

Open your design part, select file new, find a new tab named NX CAM Setup Templates.
Select one of the applicable templates to start programming.
The template file is pre-configured with some constraints, the part geometry is already assigned in the
workpiece.
In these examples we following the master model concept and are using associative copies (Linked bodies)
with this approach users can do modification on the part without changing the real part geometry.

Start using the Setup Templates

Depending on which machine and part will be used different workflows for part alignment will be required

1. Assembly navigator
• Select the existing constraint, pick the centerline at the part to orient the part to the center.
• If required add further constraints to position the part is requested position or use the “Move
Component” to manually position the part.
2. Part Navigator
• Select Edit or Double click on Linked Body, link the part by selecting the design part / *master model.
3. Assembly navigator:
• Hide master model.
4. Operation navigator:
• Workpiece, define blank, part is already assign with linked body.

*Master Model
By master model we reefer to the original part, by using Associative copies “Linked body” we can
make changes to the part that might be necessary during cam programming. But we will always
have connection the original part. If the original is updated at a later point, the linked body will
receive them as well, and only step would be to regenerate the tool path again.
