students know what to expect based on how they’re behaving, they’re far more likely to succeed
under PBIS than if you’re inconsistent in following through on punishments and rewards. For
example, schoolwide routines could define how much time is spent on instruction, homework, recess,

PBIS may need additional consequences or their own behavior plan that you set up with the parent
and student. This could even be shared via social media by the school, PBIS team, or teachers.

allowed to come to school dressed in their fancy clothes (dresses, ties, best attire) and may have a
“fancy” lunch in the classroom. This is where a token economy can be especially helpful, as it gives

important thing to do even if you think your students are doing well with routines. When instructors
acknowledge those students, they are only increasing the likelihood that the student will continue to
misbehave. Data Collection Keeping track of behavior data, office discipline referrals, staff buy-in,
