Introduction
The extension of this document will show the evidence of the first and second unit
of English IX, which is taught by Daniela Olaves Fernandez.

Each one of the evidences that will be shown were made during the classes
taught, along with those will be shown the learning of each class written by the
students.

In the first unit we will show the evidences that were made during this unit called
Opinions, in which we will show how an opinion is developed, which are the
expressions that are used, how to ask an opinion, the connectors that are used,
which are the words and expressions that are used to give a personal point of
view, general, etc. as well as the structure that must be used to be considered an
opinion.

In the second unit called informal letter, it is presented what is an informal letter,
what is the structure, the expressions or vocabulary used, as well as the informal
language to invite someone, accept or reject, all this through the informal letter.

The activities that were carried out during these two units will also be shown, and
finally the conclusion of each member.

HOMEWORK 1 : OPINION VOCABULARY AND OPINION ESSAY ACTIVITIES

Subject: The pastry in life

September 28, 2021.

In my opinion pastry making is part of our daily lives, it has a great history that
goes back to the XIX century, at the time when Antonin Careme, became known as
the famous cook - pastry chef. my impression is that since centuries ago pastry
making has evolved in a thousand ways, such as ingredients, recipes, design
trends, and great techniques that today make it unique.

i would say that the pastry is important because it is an art that has been part of us
in each of the events of our lives, for example birthdays, weddings and other
celebrations, giving the cake the protagonist of the moment.

in my experience as a party decorator, the cake and the desserts are more
important, since we always look for the cake to have the perfect design, flavor, and
color for the photo of the memory, as well as the dessert table that is part of the
pastry, giving variety of sweets and small bites.

I am sure that each one of us loves cake, of course we find a thousand flavors,
some very sweet, with different textures, some special without sugar, and others
without flour, I consider that the pastry is for everyone, because we can find that
delicious snack according to our taste and health.

I really believe it, and I love the way in which pastry has become known, giving us
great chefs, specialized in the subject that day by day make the
palates of thousands of families happy.

I have come to the conclusion that a slice of cake can change

your mood, because it means a happy moment, where thanks to
the pastry we can enjoy not only in a birthday celebration, but at
any time of the day.

the term pastry is sweet, it is love and happiness, That's just it !

By: CHEF PRISCILA CASTRO

Comments from Pilar Martinez, classmate.

In my opinion, I found this article written by my colleague very interesting, because

I personally like and find it interesting.
This article tells us a little about the beginnings of the pastry, what has been the
evolution of this, how they were changing the ingredients that were used as well as
those that are used today, as well as the technical teachers who have today, how it
is that it influences the daily lives of people, how it has been transformed and for
some people become a fundamental part of their day to day, and how important it
is to have a cake in some kind of celebration.

Nowadays there are many different ways to make a cake, there are many different
types of cakes, from those that we call naked, classic, with a specific theme or
simply simple; each and every one of the techniques that have helped us to
appreciate different types of decorations as well as desserts.

I find very interesting, how the great pastry chefs have been able to handle these
new techniques, how they have adapted and made each of them known.
Personally, I really like all the new trends that are being used, and one day I would
like to learn some of them.

Many of the people who eat breads, cakes, biscuits, etc., have made this a habit,
and in many cases it is often passed on among their relatives, as some say that
one bread or cake a day sweetens your day.
Class 3 – Friday 1 the October 2021- New report
¿THAT I LEARNED?

Class 1: we identified the units of the subject, as well as the evaluation criteria,
working in class with a test of diagnostic to reinforce.

Class 2: we started with the topic of the opinion, I learned to identify its parts, as
well as new vocabulary, which will help me to express my opinion, reinforcing the
topic with task 1 where I made an opinion of the pastry shop, applying the structure
seen in class.

Class 3: I learned how to identify the news report, its parts as well as key words
and help questions to be able to make one in the best way, making known its
points of importance.
Martínez Maquitico Pilar Guadalupe.
Class 1: Friday 17 the September 2021.

During the first class, I understood what were the topics that we would see during
the partial, as well as their learning objectives, to later understand which were the
most used connectors.

"GUARDIANS OF GASTRONOMIC CULTURE IN MEXICO"

September 28, 2021.

In many ethnic groups, states, or countries, women are the ones who keep the
culinary customs intact throughout the years. This usually happens in Mexico as
well as in many parts of the world, just as we see the women of Oaxaca, Chiapas
or any other state of the Mexican Republic, preserving the gastronomic culture, in
Morocco, Italy or China; women are part of taking care of every aspect related to
the gastronomy of the place or country. In Mexico, most women learn to cook since
childhood, this through the knowledge and experiences we live in the kitchens with
our mothers, aunts and grandmothers.

Most Mexican women have been responsible for preserving and transmitting the
knowledge of cooking. They are the ones who have taken care of the Mexican
culinary roots that have fed the people of Mexico throughout history. Thanks to the
fact that all these women have shared their experiences, flavours, techniques and
even their cooking secrets, kitchens have become a space of coexistence, where
they share stories, anecdotes, secrets and other things that have helped to nourish
both our stomach and our soul. In almost all societies that have developed a
gastronomic culture, women have been in charge of intertwining nutrition and
wellness issues with social ones.

On the other hand, the most recognized chefs are men, which speaks of the
imposition of external models and of a macho issue, which leaves aside all those
women who have helped to take care of the gastronomic culture. Most men occupy
the glamorous positions within the kitchens as well as position themselves with
crowns of gourmet luster, while that cook who has been working in a kitchen for
more than 20 years, is simply a cook, without any title or recognition for her hard
work.

Finally to conclude with this topic, women are the roots that make our gastronomy
to be positioned as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, by the United Nations
Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), as well as one of the
richest cuisines both in flavours and culture, which through time have been able to
tell the gastronomic history, as well as teach us that the real Mexican cuisine is not
found in the finest restaurant but in the market, your home or your grandmother's.
Cuisine is capable of changing our mood, of transporting us to a different place or
moment through the smells and flavours.

By: Pilar G. Martínez Maquitico.

Comments from Priscila Castro López, classmate.

I was impressed with the article of my partner Pilar, because it is totally true, for
many years the great kitchens were led by women, which had the perfect
seasoning and the best techniques, if it is true today we often forget our roots and
those unique kitchens that for many years taught us the best, for example from our
grandmothers, mothers and relatives.

As mentioned in the opinion article, nowadays great and high chefs of new cuisines
are recognized, but as mentioned by the UNEZCO, is doing a great job to rescue
the cuisine of origin.

I really liked my colleague's opinion article, as it is well structured and clear.

Class 3: Friday 01st october 2021.- News Report.

For our last class I learned that in the passive voice the main auxiliary is was /
were which is conjugated with pronouns and the verb is left in participle. also
which are the parts to make a news report and what does it have in its structure.

Is it wrong to have animals in zoos?

Student: Kassandra Sarahí Sánchez Fernández

Since ancient times man has been fascinated and passionate about
animals, which has led him to want to share and study about them in the
most comfortable and accessible way possible, thus creating places for their
research. At the same time, the controversy about the future of these
facilities is increasing and along with it the animal conscience, which forces
us to think that maybe in the future all this will change. These facilities were
born to justify the sumptuousness of their initiators, since among their
assets, having collections of exotic animals demonstrated the pedigree of
each one of them.

It goes without saying that these facilities should be gradually becoming

more and more run down because it is more than clear that it is not an
educational project, but a lucrative business, and to survive they would have
to be managed more like the latter, not like a reinsertion center. It is worth
mentioning that no outsider knows for sure if the animals inside are treated
with dignity, respect, and dedication. I dare to say that these are acts of
cruelty, because if a business is poorly organized, the first to suffer will be
the animals.

As for me, it seems to me that the stressful situations that are generated in
these places are seriously overlooked, not to mention that they are constant
and that nothing is done to stop them. I believe that the reasons are diverse,
among them the exaggerated noise and of high scale, the feeding without a
control not to exceed, and finally the harassment on the part of the visitors,
who I deduce are those who in smaller quantity help to preserve the health
of all the animals, because it is not possible to be applied or to conserve, a
conduct in set that is rational.
My impression is that we should try to put a stop to this serious practice and
have more empathy with the animals that are inside these places, because
without a doubt they suffer much more than we can imagine. Likewise,
avoid going to this type of attractions and enjoy them more in their habitat.
What did I learn in class?

Student: Kassandra Sarahí Sánchez Fernández

In the first class we were looking at part of the class syllabus, the units, and
the topics we were going to address, we also saw the objective of the
course and we saw a little bit about giving our opinion.

In the second class we dealt with the topic of the opinion article, we saw
what the structure of this is and how to elaborate one, also as homework we
made an article, giving our opinion on any topic.

In the third class we saw the topic of the news report in which we were
looking at the structure, as well as we broke down each part of this type of
report, and we saw words that are used in these texts.

Castro Lopez Laura Priscila.
Class 1: Friday 22nd october 2021.

In class we started with unit 2, which is called informal letters, it is a new topic for
me and I liked it very much because it has an interesting structure.

Informal letters are established by vocabulary, structure, expressions and by being

simple and informal.I will now present the lecture notes on the topic informal
letters.
Class 2: Friday 29 october 2021.

Continuing with the topic of letters, once we had already developed the topic in
depth, knowing the structure, vocabulary and doing reinforcement exercises, in
class 2 of informal letters, we studied more the expressions, how to establish an
informal situation, the way to make invitations, to reject or accept them.

We also presented a more complete structure and the informal and simple
language of the letter.

following notes in class

Martínez Maquitico Pilar Guadalupe.

Class 1: Friday 22nd october 2021.

During the first class we saw what the second unit would be about, as well as the
objective of the unit, the topics we would be working on, what it would be about,
whaat that topic is.

The topic that began to be developed was thaat of the informal letters, to develop
this type of letters, like the formal letters must follow a certain structure, which
consists of adress, date, the name or nikname of the recipient, introduction, the
body of the letter, conclusion, sing-off and post script. We had already seen this
topic during the last English course, but we only saw in briad strokes what it is, and
what is the structure to follow.

Class 2: Friday 29 october 2021.

In the net class we had, I learned the type of language or words that are used to
write an informal letter, which is addressed to a frind or relative, that is why its
language is informal and some words are often used with contractions or short
form, which are not usually used in formal letters. In this one I understood how an
informal letter is formed and to identify the parts of it,we also reviwed the structure,
as well as we saw some short sentences to invite someone through that letter, to
accept and reject those letters.

Class 1: Friday 22nd october 2021.

In the first class we were looking at the topic of informal letter and we saw a
little of the structure, what are its parts and its composition, we also saw
some examples, and all in group we were contributing and reading to
identify each part in the examples that the teacher gave us. We also saw
what is the vocabulary that is most used in this type of letters and to whom
they are usually addressed.

Class 2: Friday 29 october 2021.

In the second class we looked more in depth at who our letter is addressed to, and
what are the most common reasons for sending an informal letter. We also looked
at short ways of saying certain things and some examples, how to structure an
informal letter of invitation, and vocabulary in general. We saw some tenses such
as simple future and present continuous.

Dear Paula:
Oh, how I missed being with you during the holidays this year! Everything in London is so
different from Spain that I don´t know if I’ll ever get used to living here. I´m so glad that
my father´s job at the Spanish Embassy will only last until June. Then we will come home,
and you and I can spend the summer on the beach. (I hope you´ll spend your holiday in
Spain, as usual.)

I´ve already made some very nice friends, but don´t worry – no one could ever replace you

Life is very different here. Would you believe that we have to wear a uniform to go to
school? It´s awful! A blue skirt and blazer, a while blouse and a ridiculous checked tie, not
to mention a pair of horrible, long, white socks. Besides, there is nothing to do in the
evening. All the shops close by 4.30 p.m. and pubs are only open till 11 p.m.

That’s all for now. I must start my homework for my English class tomorrow. The teacher
wants us to write an informal letter to a friend and I don´t even know where to begin!

Unit 1
Castro Lopez Laura Priscila.
UNID 1:

In my opinion and conclusion, English unit 1 has been of great interest, since I
learned to recognize the main vocabulary and the structure to write an opinion
piece, as well as to identify the differences between an opinion commentary, a
news item and how it can be highlighted in an informal or formal way. I really liked
that it can be reinforced in class with videos and photographs that help me to
understand each of the topics much better. with the project I learned that it is not
easy to demonstrate and make an opinion on any topic, because you must use
keywords and organize it in the best possible way. I think I have had a good
performance in class, I intend to participate much more for unit 2, as well as
investigate and reinforce each of the topics seen, I am satisfied and happy with
everything I have learned in this period 1.
Martínez Maquitico Pilar Guadalupe.
UNID 1:

In this unit called “OPINIONS”, I understood and learned some of the most
common connectors, as well as express myself with different expressions,
both to say something that I like to give an opinion or not, also how to give
my personal point of view, how to express liking or disliking a particular topic
or thing. To conclude on how to write and what are the parts of a news
report and what should be included in each of them. During this unit it was a
bit of a review, since we had seen those topics last century, although during
the classes of this course I understood better and reinforced what I had not
understood.

Also during this unit, in some partes of the classes given, I did not fully
understand, but I still made an effort to understand and complete the
activities and assignments. Although it is hard for me to understand English,
I will make an effort and review it to continue learning and understanding it.
Sánchez Fernández Kassandra Sarahí.
UNID 1:

Throughout this unit I was able to learn new topics related to different types
of texts, reports and articles that are widely used in daily life. We were
seeing how an opinion article is elaborated, as well as its structure and the
words used to express the opinion. On the other hand, we also saw how
news reports are elaborated and what they are used for, we studied their
structure and we saw some examples in class. In general I feel that I have
learned a lot and I know that it will be very helpful in my future work and
assignments.
Conclusion
Unit 2
Castro Lopez Laura Priscila.
Unid 2:

When I started unit 2, I thought it would be a complicated topic, although in other

English classes, we had talked about the topic of letters, but it was only in broad
strokes and not in depth as it was presented this time.

I am happy for everything I learned about informal letters, how to identify the
differences, vocabulary, structure, and how to form it, having in mind that informal
letters are very different from formal letters, that the informal letter is simple, fast
and easy to write.

I understood very well each one of the points, of everything that was shown in
class and the way the teacher explained, I liked very much to feel confident at the
time of making the final project, because my team and I, we understood well the
topic seen, with the passage of time and as I evolve I realize that the fear I have of
making mistakes in the projects is less and learn more and more.

I am happy with everything I learned in unit 2, and I am ready to continue learning

in unit 3 but with the topic of formal letter.

I am ready.
Martínez Maquitico Pilar Guadalupe.
Unid 2:

In the second unit, in which we saw the topic of informal letters, I had a better
understanding of the topic since, as I mentioned, we had already seen this topic
but not in such depth. During the development of this I learned how to write an
informal letter, what an informal letter is, what it contains in its content, what is the
structure that must be followed, as well as the expressions and / or short phrases
that we can use to carry out a letter, I understood that this type of letter is used to
send to a family member or friend to whom you are very close and formal language
is not necessary.

Also how I can invite someone, how to accept or reject the invitation through an
informal letter, you were phrases or informal language was very helpful to make
the final project of the unit, in which we made different informal letters in which we
put into practice each of the vocabulary that we were given to know during class. In
this project I was able to put into practice everything I learned during this unit, as
well as to practice my pronunciation and to be a little more fluent in speaking
English, since we made a video which we presented in front of the class.

During this unit I understood my classes better, thanks to the fact that the teacher
used English and Spanish to explain each of the classes, this helped me to do my
work and homework better as well as to learn and understand.
Sánchez Fernández Kassandra Sarahí.
Unid 2:

In conclusion, we can say that an informal letter is a text that is generally

used to communicate between acquaintances, friends or family and
addressed to them. These are sent with the intention of knowing everyday
situations. Informal letters have certain specific characteristics such as the
use of contractions like 'isn't' 'l've', some connectors like 'but', short phrases,
familiar, common and colloquial words or sentences are also used.

They start with a simple greeting such as 'hello', 'hi' or 'hello Luis', then
comes the introduction which basically consists of a longer greeting,
questions such as 'como estas?' 'Que tal todo?' 'Que onda?' etc, and
continues by wishing to be well or any other similar sentence. Then follows
the body of the letter which is now the reason why you are sending the
letter, whether to make an inivtation, to know some reason, to say hello or to
plan something, here comes any reason no matter how simple it may seem.
It concludes and uses a brief farewell, ending with the name of the person
sending the letter, no signatures or anything else is used.

All this was what we were addressing in class during these two previous
classes, and we elaborated examples, and even some videos with our
classmates, in general I feel that everything was well marked and I
understood very well the topic of informal letters. It was also easier to
understand everything because the teacher used Spanish and English to
explain.
