About
Hospital
Hospital is a healthcare institution that provides treatment
to patients with specialized health science and auxiliary
healthcare staff and medical equipment.
I did my training in Metro Multispecialty Hospital in
Greater Noida.
A multispecialty hospital is the one that addresses
different branches of medicine under one roof and also
offer surgical treatment and diagnostic services.
Though Hospital training I got to know how doctors,
nurses, machine operators and pharmacists work together
in a hospital to diagnose and treat people.
In a hospital daily more than 300 people come for
different treatments, these people are referred to different
departments of the hospital. Not only patients are
dependent on hospitals but the people working in
hospitals are also dependent on it.
A well-developed nation can only form, if its citizens are
healthy and well educated. Hospital is the need of every
person, and good treatment is the right of the people.
Though hospital training I got to know the importance of
hospitals.
This training report comprises, whole summery of my
training to this hospital and what I learned from that.

First
Aid
First aid is the first and immediate assistance given
to any person suffering from either a minor or
serious illness or injury.
AIM
It is the first step taken to save life till the person
didn’t arrive to hospital or any other medical facility.
It can even ensure no death in some serious cases. It
can prevent further harm as in some cases taking
patient away from the cause. It can prevent
worsening condition. It also promotes faster
recovery.
SOME BASIC FIRST AID PROCEDURES ARE
1. ABC of first aid
When someone is unconscious, or unresponsive, a
basic principle of first aid is ABC:
 Airway: If someone's not breathing, clear their
airway.
 Breathing: If the airway is clear and they're
still not breathing, provide rescue breathing.
 Circulation: Perform chest compressions to
keep blood circulating, as well as rescue
breathing. If the person is breathing but
Page 9 of 29
Abhay Gahirwar Hospital training report

unresponsive, check their pulse. If their heart

has stopped, provide chest compressions.

2. CPR and AEDs

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, or CPR, is one of the
most important emergency medical procedures. If a
person is in cardiac arrest, in which their heart is not
beating, they could die. Performing CPR or using an
AED could save their life.
Physical conditions that often require
first aid are: -
Altitude sickness, which can begin in susceptible people at
altitudes as low as 5,000 feet, can cause potentially fatal
swelling of the brain or lungs.
Anaphylaxis, a life-threatening condition in which the
airway can become constricted and the patient may go
into shock. The reaction can be caused by a systemic
allergic reaction to allergens such as insect bites or
peanuts. Anaphylaxis is initially treated with injection of
epinephrine.

Battlefield first aid—This protocol refers to treating

shrapnel, gunshot wounds, burns and bone fractures as
seen either in the traditional battlefield setting or in an
area subject to damage by large-scale weaponry, such as a
bomb blast.
Bone fracture, a break in a bone initially treated by
stabilizing the fracture with a splint.
Burns, which can result in damage to tissues and loss of
body fluids through the burn site.
Cardiac Arrest, which will lead to death unless CPR
preferably combined with an AED is started within

PATHOLOGY
Pathology is the study of the causes and effects
of disease or injury. The word pathology also
refers to the study of disease in general,
incorporating a wide range of biology research
fields and medical practices.
SOME TESTS THAT ARE PERFORMED IN
PATHOLOGY LAB ARE: -
1. Complete Blood Count (CBC)
2. Blood Sugar Test
3. Urine analysis
4. Kidney function test

Abhay Gahirwar Hospital training report

Complete Blood Count

A complete blood count (CBC), is a set of medical
laboratory tests that provide information about the
cells in a person's blood. The CBC indicates the
counts of white blood cells, red blood cells and
platelets, the concentration of hemoglobin, and the
hematocrit (the volume percentage of red blood
cells)
It is used to diagnose anemia, infections, certain
types of cancer, and so on. It’s especially important
for Indian women as they tend to suffer from iron
deficiency and anemia and may require
supplementation. If the CBC is okay, it may be
repeated once a year.
PROCEDURE
The sample is collected by drawing blood into a
tube containing an anticoagulant—typically
EDTA—to stop its natural clotting.
Using Automated Analyzer
In the analyzer, the sample is agitated to evenly
distribute the cells, then diluted and partitioned into
at least two channels, one of which is used to count
red blood cells and platelets, the other to count
Page 13 of 29

white blood cells and determine the hemoglobin

concentration. Some instruments measure
hemoglobin in a separate channel, and additional
channels may be used for differential white blood
cell counts, reticulocyte counts and specialized
measurements of platelets.

BLOOD SUGAR TEST

A blood sugar test is a procedure that measures the
amount of sugar, or glucose, in your blood. Doctor
may order this test to help diagnose diabetes.

Abhay Gahirwar Hospital training report

Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM)

a device for continuous glucose monitoring (CGM).
The glucose sensor is inserted under your skin and
reads the sugar in your body tissue continuously. It
alerts you whenever your blood sugar is too low or
too high

Home Tests
You can take blood sugar tests at home with a
glucometer. The exact steps of finger stick glucose
meter tests vary depending on the type of glucose
meter. Your home kit will have instructions. The
procedure involves pricking your finger and putting
the blood on a glucose meter strip. The strip is
usually already inserted into the machine. Your
results will show on the screen in 10 to 2

URINANALYSIS
A urinalysis is a test of your urine. It's used to detect
and manage a wide range of disorders, such as
urinary tract infections, kidney disease and diabetes.
A urinalysis involves checking the appearance,
concentration and content of urine. For example, a
urinary tract infection can make urine look cloudy
instead of clear. Increased levels of protein in urine
can be a sign of kidney disease.

Kidney function tests

kidneys play several vital roles in maintaining your
health. One of their most important jobs is to filter
waste materials from the blood and expel them from
the body as urine.
1. Blood Urea Nitrogen test (BUN)
The blood urea nitrogen (BUN) test checks for waste
products in your blood. BUN tests measure the
amount of nitrogen in the blood. Urea nitrogen is a
breakdown product of protein. A normal BUN level
is between 7 and 20 mg/dL. A higher value could
suggest several different health problems.
2. Estimated GFR
This estimates how well your kidneys are filtering
waste. The test determines the rate by taking some
factors that are: -

Age, Gender, Race, Height, Weight, Test results

(specifically creatinine levels)

SURGICAL WARD

The surgical table is typically oriented in the center

of the room, with the surgeons positioned along the
side of the patient. The scrub nurse is positioned in
an area where both the instrument table and the
surgeon's outstretched hand are within reach. The
anesthesiologist and anesthesia equipment are
generally located at the head end of the table. All the
equipment that are used in surgery are already
sterilized.
Surgical ward is divided into Male and Female
Surgical wards for male and female patients.

Routes of Administration

Parenteral Routes of administration

Parenteral administration can be performed by
injection, that is, using a needle (usually a
hypodermic needle) and a syringe, or by the
insertion of an indwelling catheter

Abhay Gahirwar Hospital training report

1. INTRAVENOUS INGECTION
An intravenous (IV) injection is an injection of a
medication or another substance into a vein and
directly into the bloodstream. It is one of the fastest
ways to get a drug into the body. IV administration
involves a single injection followed by the insertion
of a thin tube or catheter into a vein.
2. INTRADERMAL INJECTION
Intradermal injection, often abbreviated ID, is a
shallow or superficial injection of a substance into
the dermis, which is located between the epidermis
and the hypodermis.

Abhay Gahirwar Hospital training report

3. INTRAMUSCULAR INJECTION
An intramuscular injection is a technique used to
deliver a medication deep into the muscles. This
allows the medication to be absorbed into the
bloodstream quickly. You may have received an
intramuscular injection at a doctor’s office the last
time you got a vaccine, like the flu shot.
4. SUBCUTANEOUS INJECTION
A subcutaneous injection is a method of
administering medication. Subcutaneous means
under the skin. In this type of injection, a short
needle is used to inject a drug into the tissue layer
between the skin and the muscle.

LIST OF VACCINES WITH DISEASE THEY PREVENT

1. BCG Vaccine – Tuberculosis
2. Hep B Vaccine- Hepatitis B
3. Polio Vaccine- Poliovirus
4. DTP – Tetanus

DISPENSARY
A dispensary is the room or area in a hospital where
medicine is prepared and given out to patients.

List of some drugs that are dispensed and

distributed here are: -
1. Omeprazole- Antacid
2. Magnesium trisilicate chewable tablets
3. Paracetamol tablets and suspensions
4. Chlorpheniramine Maleate tablets

RABIES VACCINE
Rabies vaccine is an immunization used to prevent
rabies in people who have been bitten by an animal
or otherwise exposed to the rabies virus.
 Brand Name: HDCV, Imovax, rabies vaccine
human diploid cell culture
 Generic Name: Rabies Vaccine
 Drug Class: Vaccines, Inactivated, Viral;
Vaccines, Travel
PRE-EXPOSURE AND POST-EXPOSURE
VACCINATION
Pre-exposure vaccination should be offered to
persons in high-risk groups, such as veterinarians
and their staff, animal handlers, rabies researchers,
and certain laboratory workers.
Treatment after an exposure in a previously
unvaccinated person ( in post vaccination)requires
receiving a dose of rabies

immune globulin and four (or five if the person's

immune system is suppressed) doses of vaccine.

Abhay Gahirwar Hospital training report

Vaccination before exposure requires only three

doses of vaccine and no immune globulin.
SIDE EFFECTS- Most reactions to this vaccine are
mild, such as soreness and redness at the injection
site. Moderate problems, including hives, pain in the
joints, and fever, are possible in a small percentage
of patients (6%) given booster doses.
NO OF DOSES- Three, one on each day 0, 7 and 21 or
28, given (1 or 0.5 ml/dose depending on vaccine).
BOOSTER- Not routinely needed for general
travelers.

WASTE MANAGEMENT
Abhay Gahirwar Hospital training report

Different types of wastes that formed in hospitals

are: -
Infectious waste- It includes cultures, contaminated
water, body fluids, infectious organisms’ stocks, etc.
Pathological waste- Includes tissues, organs, fluids,
etc.
Sharps waste- Includes syringes, needles, etc.
Pharmaceutical waste- Includes expired medicines,
vaccines etc.

THESE WASTES ARE DISPOSED IN DIFFERENT

COULORED DUSTBINS.

TRAUMA CENTER AND EMERGENCY

Abhay Gahirwar Hospital training report

It aimed to treat wounded patients as well take

emergency cases.
PROCEDURE
After checking the patient doctor refer it to this
ward if needed.
A ticket is generated and a bed acquired then
medicines are prescribed. Now patient is shifted to
the ward accordingly.
Different departments take the responsibility of the
patient and care it till it fully healed.
PROBLEMS THAT OCCURRED DURING TRAINING
1. Children are non-cooperative, not easy to handle.
2. Illiterate patients didn’t understand their
medicines and doses correctly.
3. Stock of medicines should be maintained if
finished creates many problems.
4. Dealing with the wrong mentality of patients that
wrong medicines and treatment is given.
5. In emergency cases people tends to remove their
oxygen masks.

SUMMERY
Abhay Gahirwar Hospital training report

In my 1month 15 days training, I learned how to

dispense medicines, deal with different ages and
gender people, what to do in emergency cases, how
doctors, nurses, pharmacist, machine operators and
many other people work together and treat patients,
how each hospital worker, machines, medical
equipment’s values, etc. We daily deal with
thousands of prescriptions that have to dispensed
correctly with hospitality.

Observation
I observed hospital as the center of miracles where
people come having hope of getting well and a team
of doctors with nurses try there best and resolve
their problem. Also, I consider hospitals as a
backbone of our country’s economy they are not
only curing people but many industries are standing
because of it. I see hospitals as a big opportunity for
young people like us who not only want to help
people but also wants a job that help us in living.

CONCLUSION
At last, I want to conclude this project with the all
the wonderful experience I got where I learned how
the hospital operates, staff members work and
appreciating our doctors and nurses that works 24
hours in the hospital. In this hospital training, I got
to know some essential things that we should
definitely know as being a medical student like first
aid training, how to apply injections, how to deal
with different people, how blood samples are taken
for different tests, how dispensary area takes
thousands of prescriptions and provide different
drugs and medicines according to the weight, height,
age and gender of different people, also manage to
make a record of different prescriptions, how
different charts are made according to different
patients that have time table of number of drugs that
have to be given on time and the food .
