Carl Benz, was a German engineer and inventor,

known for having created the Benz Patent-
Motorwagen in 1886 together with his wife Bertha
Benz, this was considered the first vehicle in
history designed to be powered by an internal
combustion engine.
When he was around 30 years old, Benz worked
day and night designing engines, so that, in 1879,
after a two-year development phase, he managed
to build and patent the first two-stroke engine
capable of running satisfactorily.
.

On January 29, 1886, Benz applied for the patent to the

German Government For A Three Wheeler,
which is considered the first motor vehicle
of internal combustion history.
The Benz Patent-Motorwagen, as it was called,
It is on display today at the German Museum in Munich.

In August 1888, his wife, Bertha Benz, without telling him and without permission
from the authorities, drove with their sons Richard and Eugen, the new Benz Patent-
Motorwagen from Mannheim to Pforzheim, becoming the first person to drive a car
in a considerable distance (106 km). He wanted to show her that the car would
become a financial success once it was seen how useful it could be to the general
public.

The first four-wheeled Benz vehicle was produced in

1893, the Benz Victoria, and the following year the Benz
Velo, which was the base model for the first trucks from
1895.
Production in 1899 was 572 vehicles, and Benz became
one of the largest automobile manufacturers. That year
the first racing car appeared, which was the origin of
many successes.
