CME Activity Objectives

• Identify clinically relevant knee anatomy, including the menisci, cruciate and collateral ligaments,
tendons, and cartilage.
• Describe essential physical exam maneuvers in the evaluation of knee injuries.
• Summarize the key elements of rehabilitation and return to play considerations following ACL
and cartilage surgery.
• List risk factors for knee cartilage injury.
• Describe ACL injuries.
• Summarize the benefits and limitations of ultrasound guided procedures for knee disorders.
• Identify imaging findings of common knee injuries.
• Summarize nonsurgical and surgical treatment options for knee cartilage injury.
• Summarize nonsurgical and surgical treatment options for ACL injuries.

Intended Audience

This CME course is designed for physicians, physical therapists, performance coaches, athletic trainers,
and other medical professionals who evaluate and treat athletes and other active populations.

jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education
(ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the
American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the

ABOS
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component,
enables the learner to earn credit toward the CME requirement of the American Board of Orthopaedic
Surgery’s Maintenance of Certification program. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit
learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABOS credit.

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component,
enables the learner to earn credit toward the CME requirements of the American Board of Surgery’s

BOC
Mayo Clinic School of Continuous Professional Development (BOC AP#: P476) is
approved by the Board of Certification, Inc. to provide continuing education to Athletic
Trainers. This program is eligible for a maximum of 15.00 Category A hours/CEUs.
ATs should claim only those hours actually spent in the educational program.

IPCE
This activity was planned by and for the healthcare team, and learners will receive 15.00 Interprofessional
Continuing Education (IPCE) credit for learning and change.

Clinic School of Health Sciences. This course meets the criteria for 15.00 hours of credit per Minnesota
