Men´s Softball world Championship 2019

• is an international softball tournament

• it také place in Prague and Havlíčkův Brod in Czech Republic from 13 – 23 June 2019
• there were 16 teams from different countries like New Zealand, the USA, Australia or Mexico
which competed with each other
◦ Argentina came 1st, Japan came 2nd and Canada was 3rd
◦ Czech Republic was eighth

Men´s Softball World Championship

• is a softball tournament for the best national men‘s teams in the world
• tournament was founded in 1966 ( 64 years ago)
◦ this World Championship is held every two years and the 16 best teams from all over the
world compete with each other
• most recent champion was Argentina
• the most titles have New Zealand ( it has got 7 titles)
• the first Softball World Championship was in Mexico City which the USA won
◦ Mexico came 2nd and New Zealand was 3rd

• it‘s a game similar to baseball played with a larger ball and moves in general faster than the
traditional baseball
• this ball and team sport was invented in 1887 in Chicago as an indoor game but the Softball
World Confederation was founded in 1952
• equipment in softball includes a ball, a bat, gloves, uniforms and protective gear
