3 Days/ 2 Nights At the beginning of the 19th century the city of Hue was the capital of Vietnam. During the Vietnam-US war some of the most severe struggle occurred in the region of the Central Highlands when a number of constructions were bombed and ruined during this war. Fortunately, the riches and the historic significance of the town remained unaltered despite all this. Hue and its surrounding have still got lots of pagodas, temples which are more than 300 years old. Apart from being a center of cultural development in Vietnam, Hue has also served as the breeding ground for Royal Music. Hu is certain to add a touch of culture to your trip. During this trip, you'll enjoy a cruise on the romantic Perfume River and take guided visits to the Thien Mu Pagoda and the Imperial Citadel, modelled on the Forbidden City in Beijing. There is also an opportunity to explore the local area on pushbike, passing through traditional villages and extensive paddy fields. Itinerary Day 1: Arrival in Hue Arrive in Hue, the former imperial capital of Vietnam. Our driver and guide will pick up and transfer you to hotel in Hue. In the afternoon, visit Forbidden Purple City, The Emperial Citadel where the Nguyen Dynasty ruled between 1802 and 1945. Day 2: Boat trip on Perfume River (B,L,D) Start by taking a leisurely boat trip on the romantically named Perfume River to visit Thien Mu Pagoda. Constructed in 1601, the 21-meter tall tower is the centerpiece of the pagoda and a symbol of the city. Continue to Minh Mang mausoleum. Lunch on boat then depart to the Mausoleum of Tu Duc. Built decades before its occupant's death, the tomb was used as a palace retreat before its final use as the emperor's resting Hue Vietnam place. Finish up the day at Khai Dinh's Tomb which is traditional Vietnamese in design but accented with a European touch, making it unique from the other tombs in Hue.
