ANSWER THE QUESTIONS BELOW BRIEFLY BUT SUBSTANTIALLY.

When writing, which is better to use, active voice or passive voice? Explain

Both verb voices have a distinct purpose depending on when and how they are used.
However, active voice is more prevalent in most writing since it is more straightforward
and simpler to understand. Passive voice would require helping verbs to be completed,
making it longer. While active voice on the other hand does not require many words to
be concise, it keeps the sentence from being complex. Furthermore, passive voice
emphasizes the action rather than the subject, so it always starts with the object. This is
often confusing for the majority of people, since we are accustomed to the subject being
the one who begins the sentence. Even in elementary and high school, most of the
sentences that were presented to us were in the active voice since it is easier to read and
write.

In your own understanding, what is the difference between theme and rheme?

The theme is the main idea of the sentence. It is often in the beginning of a sentence in
order to emphasize the central idea or focus. While the remainder of the sentence after
the theme is referred to as the rheme. It contains further information about the theme.
