A good paragraph is composed of a topic sentence (or key sentence), supporting information, and a
concluding (or transition) sentence. The following are the key elements of a good paragraph:

2. Supporting sentences: to help explain, prove, or expand the topic sentence. These sentences are

3. Concluding sentence: This sentence summarizes the main point of the paragraph, reminds readers of
the main point without repeating the same words.

your main idea

Conclusion Transition Words: signals the transition from the main body of the essay to the conclusion
Synthesis Essay: provides a synthesis by bringing together the ideas and arguments presented in the
essay.
Draw on two or more sources from academic papers, fiction sources, speeches, interviews, articles,
lectures, or observations.
In a synthesis essay, you need to analyze several different sources and use the relevant information from
them to support your statement. But it’s not about utilizing or summarizing other authors’ ideas.
When choosing the resources to analyze in your synthesis essay, don’t take only those supporting your
