Thank you EB for the recognition. In 2019 New Zealand passed the climate change response
(zero carbon) amendment act setting the targets of reducing net emissions of greenhouse gases.
Addressing agricultural emissions is key to new Zealand meeting their methane specific targets.
New Zealand has been working in collaboration with NGO’s and new Zealanders. NZ ETS,
NZES NZEES and new Zealand waste strategy addresses the relevant SDG’s. NZES and NZEES
will ensure 90 percent renewable electricity by 2025. The transition will cost less in NZ that in
most countries. We would like to recommend to Russia to consider the quantification of the
carbon footprint of manufactured goods disclosed by individual organizations. New Zealand
believes that everyone should commence a circular economy and bioeconomy strategy. Funding
and financing are key catalysts for the transition. Financial commitments have been ignored by
developed countries. The US is overwhelmingly responsible for the climate finance gap. Having
provided just 5% of its fair share in 2020, the US should ideally have provided and mobilised
billions more to enable climate action in developing countries. Australia, Canada, Italy and Spain
are also notable laggards, in both absolute and relative terms. Whereas we being such a small
country have taken key actions in terms of finances. We have established the climate emergency
response fund with a down payment of NZ dollar 4.5 billion. Issue sovereign green bonds.
Building on the success of the new Zealand green investment finance.
