Complementary therapist and self-care practices

Also known as alternative medicine or alternative therapist. Used to compliment


contemporary Western Medical and nursing care. Are designed to promote comfort,
health, and wellbeing.

EXAMPLE OF ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE


1. Diet Therapist - for example patient with cancer
2. Gastrointestinal Treatment - for example the patient has colonoscopy, there are different
types of enemas according to what the patient needs.
3. Balance and Exercise Activities - for example yoga exercise, Taichi or karate, have different
kinds of balance, yoga more on balancing.
4. Sensory Exposure - for example aroma therapy, music therapy, light therapy, includes all
senses.
5. Therapeutic Manipulation - is a manual treatment primarily used by chiropractors,
osteopaths, and physiotherapists to treat musculoskeletal pain and disability.

WHAT IS SELF-CARE?
It is an activity that includes complementary therapist medications and spiritual and
cultural practices.

ROLE OF COMMUNITY HEALTH CARE:


1. Preparation of the community health nurse
 You should be the one prepared when it comes to programming and planning in the
community. You acquired information from peers, co-nurses or attended workshop or
any conference, widened your knowledge.
2. Assessment
 Day-to-day living includes cultural and spiritual influences, traditional and healthcare
choices, and practices, includes cultural caboose.
3. Teaching
 It is the most important community Health nursing roles, what the community needs
and the families.

ROLES OF PUBLIC HEALTH NURSING:


1. You are a programmer or a planner
 Identify the needs, priorities and problems of individuals, families, and community.
 Clients in the community individuals, families, and community.
 You are responsible for the formulation of the municipal health plan.
 You implement and interpret the nursing plan, program policies, memoranda and
concerns with other staff or personnel.
 Provides technical assistant to rural midwives.
2. Provider of nursing care

3. Manager/Supervisor
 Formulates individual family group and community centered plan,
 Requisition, allocation, and distribution of medical supplies,
 You conduct regular supervisory visits and meetings to different rural health midwives,
engaged feedback or accomplishments,
4. Community Organizer
 To motivate and enhance community participation in terms of planning, organizing,
implementing, and evaluating health services or programs.
 You initiate and participate in community development activities, and make sure you
practice.
5. Coordinator of Services
 Coordinate with individuals, families, and groups for health and related services
provided by various members of health teams, and other organizations and NGOs.
6. Trainer/Health Educator/Counselor
 Trainer - Identifies and interpret the training needs of RHM, BHWs and BNS
 Health Educator - formulate appropriate training program designed for RHM, affiliates
and other healthcare workers.
 Conducts and pre-imposes consultation and conferences for clinic patients.
 Counselor - resource speaker or person related with health services plus a a health
educator that conducts premarital counseling.
7. Health Monitor
 Detects deviation from the help of individuals, families, or group of communities, true
contact visits.
 Responsible to observe uses, symptomatic and objective observation and other forms of
data gathering, checklist, questionnaire, report.
8. Role Model
 Provide good examples of helpful living to the public or community.
9. Change Agent
 Motivates changes in health behaviors of individuals, families groups, or communities,
including lifestyle, and to promote and maintain health.
10. Recorder/Reporter/Statistician
 You prepare and submit required reports and records. (Recorder)
 Review, validate, consolidate, analyzes, and interprets all records and reports. (Reporter)
 Prepare statistical data and other presentations for this play and for presentation for
staff meetings, conferences, seminars, or workshops. (Statistician)
