Cloud-managed Wi-Fi provides all the scalability you need for today’s dynamic, hybrid
environments without the limitations of on-premises controllers. With Sophos Central,
you have a single pane of glass for all of your cloud-managed security solutions, to
manage your access points, switches, and firewalls, alongside your endpoint, email,
and server protection. Per-AP, local management is also possible.
AP6 Series
The new AP6 Series offers a range of models to suit many different environments. With
four indoor models and one IP67-rated outdoor model, they are ideal for both new and
existing customers to refresh their Wi-Fi infrastructure as part of a network upgrade or
vendor consolidation project.
Better performance with Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E
Wi-Fi 6 is the latest wireless generation, covering the commonly used 2.4 and 5 GHz
bands to serve a broad range of devices. For environments with newer devices which
support Wi-Fi 6E, the capabilities and features of Wi-Fi 6 are extended into the 6 GHz
band, making use of a cleaner, less congested space.
Wi-Fi 6 is also know as ‘High-Efficiency Wi-Fi’, due to the enhanced throughput-per-
area in high density environments, resulting in much lower latency. Over an entire
network, this translates into a considerable performance increase.
Enhanced security with WPA3
Wi-Fi 6E access points require the more secure Wi-Fi Protected Access 3, WPA3,
certification standard in the 6 GHz band. This newer standard replaces some of the
previously exploited weakspots of its predecessor, such as the Pre-shared Key (PSK),
for a more secure initial key exchange. It also mandates the 192-bit cryptographic
strength in WPA3-Enterprise mode and continues to mandate CCMP-128 as the
minimum encryption algorithm in WPA3-Personal mode for better security.
Features not available upon launch
At the time of the expected launch of the AP6 Series:
Ì Mesh functionality will be not yet be available. Early access expected from September 2023.
Ì Synchronized security will not be supported. Availablility will be confirmed at a later date.
Ì Application traffic visibility. Availablility will be confirmed at a later date.
