The Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC) will soon release the BSSC CGL syllabus for the year
2020, along with the official notification. The candidates interested in the BSSC CGL recruitment
process can check out the detailed BSSC CGL syllabus and exam pattern on the official BSSC website.
The syllabus is the cornerstone for getting selected in BSSC CGL. Knowing it before can help candi-
dates steer their preparation in the right direction. The BSSC 2nd CGL Syllabus for all the 32 posts is
similar.
• BSSC conducts the recruitment process in various rounds depending on the post. The stages
are a preliminary exam, a written exam, a physical ability test, and a personal interview.

Main Exam
The main BSSC CGL Recruitment exam is divided into 2 papers. Paper-1 will be a language paper
consisting of 100 questions of Hindi language. Paper-2 will have 3 sections of 50 marks each. The
BSSC CGL syllabus for paper-2 is similar to that of the preliminary exam.

Interview
There is no particular syllabus for the interview round. Only those candidates who applied for the
post of Forest Range Officer will be going through the interview process. The interview round will test
the general knowledge and field related knowledge of the candidate.

BSSC CGL Exam Pattern 2020


The BSSC CGL exam pattern helps the candidates in understanding the detailed marking scheme
of each exam held under CGL selection process. The exam pattern for each stage is as follows:

Preliminary Exam
The prelims exam will have 3 sections of 50 marks each. This is an objective type exam and is qualify-
ing in nature. Candidates clearing the prelims exam will be eligible for the mains exam. The exam
pattern for the prelims is given in the table below.

Physical Ability Test


All the candidates who have applied to category A posts and have qualified through Prelims exam will
be called for the Physical Ability Test. The test will be conducted for the below mentioned posts:

The candidates have to complete a 1 mile run in 6 minutes to be eligible for the physical measurement
and test except for those applying to the post of Forest Range Officer.

Main Exam
The Mains Exam is divided into 2 papers: Paper-1 and Paper-2. Paper 1 is a language paper con-
ducted for a total of 400 marks. It will have 100 questions from Hindi language. Candidates must

score a minimum of 30% marks to be eligible for paper-2. There will be 3 sections in paper-2 of the
mains exam. The pattern and syllabus for paper-2 is similar to that of the preliminary exam.

Interview
The candidates who applied for the post of Forest Range Officer will be called for the interview round
once they successfully get through the written exams. The interview round will be conducted for 50
marks and candidates will be tested for their field knowledge and general awareness.
