HALF OF SCHOOL CHILDREN SUFFER FROM STRESS
According to a psychologist writing for the Daily Mail newspaper, half of school children aged 8 to 18
are stressed and anxious about their academic performance. He maintained that the root of the
problem pointed towards a culture of over examination, as children in South Africa face tough
examinations at the end of Grades 3, 6, 9 and 12. He added that the overemphasis of external
examinations in the country is far greater than in other countries.

education by the government.
Unfortunately, many hopeful applicants could still be turned away by tertiary institutions.

over time, resulting in a loss of energy, vitality and enthusiasm for the future?

We all get frustrated from time to time but life doesn't have to overwhelm you, and it most
certainly doesn't have to frustrate you. You can improve the quality of your life by making a few
small adjustments to your routine and by changing your behaviour or your way of thinking, e.g.
consider volunteering which could form part of your personal lifestyle plan.

Often, the quality of our lives has more to do with the habits that we routinely run on a daily
basis. By improving our habits, we can improve the quality of our lives on multiple levels, i.e., our
