Movie Review:Unlocked

1. Summarize in 5-10 sentences what is the video being reviewed about

The movie entitled, Unlocked, basically portrays the negative side of the virtual
community. Advancements are continuously happening in the field of technology,
however the other side of the coin shows that alongside these advancements it has
served as a gateway for people with malice to penetrate and escalate the crime rate
in the virtual world. The movie focused mainly on 2 characters, the protagonist and
the antagonist, to which the movie circled around the topic of ethical standards being
violated both in the real and online world.

2. Identify the Social and Professional Issue that is being discussed.

According to another movie I have watched (Enola Holmes), it states that - “Privacy
is believed to be the highest virtue but is the one most frequently violated” - and such
principle is one of the main social and professional issues discussed in the movie.
Privacy was shown to be openly violated by the hacker who profusely tormented the
main female character by downloading a spyware into her mobile phone and tracking
all her activities, acquiring all information about her and the people around her. This
information then became the hackers basis into stalking and getting closer with the
female victim.

3. What is your personal stand on the issue?

I do agree that privacy is one of the most important virtues to date, especially now
that we are in the age of technology. Undeniably, the advancements in technology
have greatly reaped benefits in various aspects of our lives, however the multitudes
of data that each user stores online has become very vulnerable to cyber attacks.
Personally, I believe that the minute you start using online platforms there is already
a breach of privacy, not only due to cybercriminals but also the companies handling
the apps or tools that we use.

4. What have you learned from the video that will help you become a responsible IT
Practitioner?

I have learned from the video the importance of standing firm to one’s ethical
principles in their choice of field. To realize that alongside gaining knowledge of how
the IT system works and not using this for personal gains or in pursuit of harming
other user is the most important ethical principle one shall uphold as a future
professional.
