Introduction:

As a student of Industrial and Organizational Psychology, I had the privilege to embark on an

industrial visit to Haldiram Ethnic Foods Pvt. Ltd, located in Nagpur, Maharashtra. The purpose

of this visit was to gain practical insights into organizational behavior, workplace dynamics, and

industrial practices within the food manufacturing sector.

Company Overview:

Haldiram Ethnic Foods Pvt. Ltd, a subsidiary of Vevek Ethnic Foods Private Limited, specializes

in the manufacturing of dairy products and beverages. Established in 2019, the company has

rapidly expanded its operations, showcasing a commitment to quality and innovation in its

product offerings.

Production, Product Range and Facility Upgrade:

The manufacturing facility at Haldiram’s Ethnic Foods Pvt. Ltd is equipped to produce a wide

range of dairy products, including curd, butter, ghee, milk, and buttermilk. Vevek Ethnic Foods

Pvt. Ltd boasts a diverse product portfolio, including Tetrapacks, Weigh Power Best Waste
Product, milkshakes, milk packets, curd, butter, ghee, and buttermilk. The plant has recently

undergone a significant upgrade, increasing its handling capacity from 2 lakh liters to 5 lakh

liters. The company has ventured into BMC (Bulk Milk Cooler) production, with a capacity

ranging from 60,000 to 1,00,000 liters per day, further expanding its product line and market

reach.

Recruitment Practices:

Recruitment is primarily conducted through referrals and third-party recruitment agencies,

ensuring a comprehensive and efficient selection process to meet the organization's staffing

needs.

Raw Material Sourcing:

Raw materials, crucial for production, are sourced from regions such as Bhandara and

Kathewadi. Cow and buffalo milk are procured to ensure the quality and freshness of the dairy

products manufactured at the facility.

Workforce and Organizational Hierarchy:

Haldiram’s Ethnic Foods Pvt. Ltd employs a workforce of approximately 350 individuals,

spanning various hierarchical levels from Directors to Workers. The organizational structure

follows a hierarchical framework, with clear delineations of responsibilities and reporting

channels for each unit within the company.


Operational Procedures and Safety Measures:

The company prioritizes safety and efficiency in its operations, implementing SCADA-operated

procedures to streamline production processes. Stringent safety measures, including fire safety

protocols and regular training sessions, are enforced to ensure a secure working environment for

employees.

Employee welfare is a cornerstone of the company's ethos, with initiatives such as product

concessions and dedicated committees to address harassment issues. Social events and corporate

organization. Haldiram’s Ethnic Foods Pvt. Ltd emphasizes open communication at all levels,

Job Stress and Attrition:

healthy work-life balance. Despite these efforts, attrition may occur, necessitating ongoing

efforts to enhance employee engagement and retention strategies.

Gender Diversity and Appraisal Process:

Haldiram’s Ethnic Foods Pvt. Ltd maintains a balanced gender ratio of 80:20 across its

workforce, with employees working in three shifts. Appraisal processes are conducted unit-wise

at the end of each month, with HR playing a pivotal role in conflict resolution and fostering a

harmonious work environment.

Conclusion:

The industrial visit to Haldiram’s Ethnic Foods Pvt. Ltd provided invaluable insights into the

intersection of organizational psychology and industrial practices within the food manufacturing

industry. Observations regarding production processes, workforce dynamics, safety measures,
