Fleetguard®’s FS19580 Fuel/Water Separator

Outperforms the Thermo-King 11-8047

Free Water Separation Free Water Removal

High free water separation is
important to fuel injector life. Thermo-King 44%
Large amounts of free water Fleetguard® 99%
can cause SERIOUS
INJECTOR WEAR, impacting
fuel consumption, power, and
injector life.

Emulsified Water Separation Emulsion Water Removal

Emulsified water will cause

high pressure fuel systems
demand high efficiencies in
emulsified water separation.
You should, too!

Efficiency at 20 Microns Efficiency @ 20 microns

Today’s high-pressure fuel
systems demand high Thermo-King 95%
efficiency filtration at small Fleetguard® 96%
particle sizes. Without
quality filtration, INJECTOR
FAILURES will result, costing
you high dollars.

Capacity Capacity
Capacity to hold wear agents
is important. Larger capacity Thermo-King 15g
relates to longer filter life and Fleetguard® 17g
less probability to bypass filter
— meaning less ROAD CALLS.
The Thermo-King design, by returning water to the fuel
tank, will create large amounts of emulsified and free

Fuel System/Fuel previous charts show that the Thermo-King 11-8047 filter
is very poor at removing both emulsified and free water,

problems. Microbes attack at the fuel/water interface in

the fuel tank, where they thrive and multiply. Once
established, they entrench themselves in a thick layer of
slimy deposits and create a number of problems, such as:
Water accumulated in fuel tank • Plugged fuel filters
• Clogged injectors
• Hazy fuel
• Increased service calls
• Driver complaints

Contrary to what Thermo-King has published, the Thermo-King design will greatly increase the
likelihood for early injector failure and warranty problems, not decrease them. The Fleetguard®
design, on the other hand, performs its function as a fuel/water separator.

Thermo-King’s warranty states that “the Fleetguard® FS19580 fuel filter does not contain the quality
features inherent in the Thermo-King filter product that prevent unfiltered fuel from flowing into the
fuel injection system.” Such a broad statement is very misleading and fails to prove anything. The
two test procedures documented in the above chart prove that the Fleetguard® FS19580 is superior
to the Thermo-King 11-8047 in removing water from fuel. In fact, the data above prove that the
Thermo-King 11-8047 is much more likely to cause fuel injector failures due to the lack of adequate
fuel/water separation.

According to the Filter Manufacturers Council Technical Service Bulletin (TSB-85-1): ". . . under the
Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and general principles of the Federal Trade Commission Act, a
manufacturer may not require the use of any brand of filter (or any other article) unless the
manufacturer provides the item free of charge under the terms of the warranty."

Fleetguard® offers the most comprehensive warranty coverage in the industry. If Thermo-King can
prove that any injector failure is the result of poor performance or failure of a Fleetguard® product,
the Fleetguard® warranty is non-prorated and covers such failures. The burden of proof lies with
Thermo-King to prove that a filter defect from a Fleetguard® product caused any failures. It is
obvious that it is much more likely to have failures as a result of theThermo-King product’s
performance.
