It was once said by the famous psychologist, named Albert Bandura that in order to have a profound

effect on of our abilities is to overcome challenges that are inevitable while you are living, it is managing
one’s ability to move gradually from the beginning until the end of the line. It is managing everything
upon prospective situations. But of course, this would not be as effective as everyone thinks, without
developing their self-efficacy. During my high school years, I was the kind of student who does not give
importance to her studies because of the environment that she is living in. With the family that I have
and friends that surround me, I believe that they are considered as the major factors that influence me
and made me to who I am today. Literally, I was not a good performer in our classes before, that even
for a day, I had this urge to not do my assignments and seat works from time to time, even though the
deadline is already approaching. I only do work which results to bare-minimum ones. And by bare-
minimum ones, I mean, it really led to the point that my only goal was to pass every monthly grading
period and finals period. I was not used to achieve good things as I believed and oftentimes, most
people who are around me only sees me as the mediocre one, who only gets to laugh with her friends
and make fun of everything, but does not take things seriously especially the academic stuff. In relation
to that, this had led me to self-sabotaging, to the point that I cannot realize what an individual really
deserves to have, specifically, for myself. Then by that, it became a habit and a routine, perhaps, a
characteristic, at some point, because you adapted and valued it. Now this habit hindered me in
achieving life goals that I deserve. I even get to the point that I have not achieved any awards or joined
in any organizations from my previous school. Which made me think of my self-efficacy. It was stated by
the famous human behavioral psychologist, Albert Bandura, that sustaining your self-efficacy can help
you to succeed and overgrown from the obstacles that you experience in your life. It is developing
profound effect on one of your abilities that you develop all throughout. Those who lack self-efficacy
cannot produce efficacious act, leading to failure. It was also stated by him, that self-efficacy do not
grow in a day, but it requires several experiences and challenges that everyone should go through. With
that being said, I believe that my self-efficacy has not yet been developed fully. As I know, that I am not
capable of doing something great and achieve greater goals for myself yet, but, I believe that these
weaknesses help me know how to produce new strengths. How I behave in the future must also be
experienced in the present first. Pursuing graduate school was really one of my dreams, but also,
knowing what I am capable of and weaknesses are should be the fundamental factors that I should
realize first before making it through graduate school. Furthermore, with the course that I am currently
taking in right now, which is Bachelor of Science in Psychology, I can confidently say that pursuing
Master’s in Clinical Psychology in the future would help me utilize the skills and experiences that I have
learned in my current course. In addition, it has always been my dream to become a psychotherapist,
therefore, all of these collected experiences and developed skills that I have now will be useful for my
self-efficacy in becoming a Psychotherapist. Psychotherapist has always been my dream. I believe that I
was oblige to help people, to understand their emotions, behaviors and help them lessen their
maladaptive behaviors. Lastly, this future Psychotherapist would not only make the most out of the
university but for the whole world.
