When there is a check to King and King

has no square to move, then it is called
‘CHECKMATE’.

Here White Queen is giving a check to the

Black King and King has no square to
move & Black King cannot capture the
White Queen as it has support from the
White King.

Here it is not checkmated. Even though

Black King has no square to move, Black
Rook can capture the Queen which is
giving the Check.
