Back Rank Mate

It is a chess tactic.
A back-rank checkmate (also known as the corridor mate) is a checkmate
delivered by a Rook or Queen along the last rank( 1st rank for white & 8th
rank for Black).

Here
Black King has pawns in front of it blocking
King from moving to 7th Rank.

White Rook moved to d8 square and is


giving Check to Black King.
King has no square to escape.

Black King got checkmate in the last Rank


(8th Rank).
