GENERAL OVERVIEW OF PETROL/FILLING STATIONS

1.INTRODUCTION

A petrol/filling station is a facility for selling fuel and lubricants for motor vehicles. The most
common fuels sold in Tanzania are gasoline (petrol) and gasoil (diesel).

Modern filling stations provide additional services such as;

1. Service and maintenance of vehicles


2. Washing of vehicles

3. Shops

4. Restaurants

5. Bank ATMs

6. M pesa, Tigo pesa,Airtel money, Halo pesa, LUKU etc

2. MINIMUM STANDARD REQUIREMENTS OF A PETROL/FILLING STATION

A petrol/filling station should have at least:

One underground storage tank for each petroleum product sold at the station.

One digital dispensing pump (two-way) for each petroleum product sold at the station.
All dispensing pumps should be covered (shade called canopy).

One service bay

One wash bay

One generation

Offices

One wastewater drainage system

Fire fighting equipments
