1 SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
a. License server may be installed on a Windows Server or a Personal Computer.
b. Recommended: Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10, Windows Server 2012, or Windows Server 2016.
c. The machine hosting the License Server must be installed on the same Local Area Network (LAN) as
the machine(s) operating the RPS Map Application (OILMAP or SARMAP or CHEMMAP). This is
necessary for the RPS Map Application to connect to the License Server.
d. The latest version of Java (Version 8, update 201 as of this writing).

2 INSTALLING THE NECESSARY COMPONENTS


2.1 Install OILMAP/CHEMMAP/SARMAP
Go to http://asascience.com/support to download the latest OILMAP/SARMAP/CHEMMAP installation. We
have redesigned our support website to allow users to download full installations along with the necessary
guides and licensing information. The full installation allows users to install on new computers and to update
existing computers. If a physical copy of the installation is required, please contact
MapSupport@rpsgroup.com.
Install the Map application. Be sure to right click and select “Run as Administrator”.

2.2 Install Java


Go to http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp to install the latest version of Java. As of January 2019, the
latest version is Version 8, update 201.

2.2.1 Configure Java


Add a security exception for the RPS servers:
a. Go Start a Programs a Java a Configure Java.
b. Click on the Security Tab
c. Click Edit Site List
d. Click Add
e. Enter the following URL to first spot on list and click ok: http://licensing.asascience.com
f. Click continue on security warning
g. Click OK to close

3 PRODUCT ACTIVATION
Go to https://licensing.asascience.com/ems/customerLogin.html and enter the Product Key activation code
provided to you by RPS. This Product Key is also available on your Maintenance Account site.
Click Login.

Once the product key as been entered, the Sentinel EMS will show the available products:

3.1 Online Activation
Click the Online Activation button to proceed with License Server registration on the machine hosting the
License Server.
For online activation, Java must be installed on the computer.
If the following message appears from Java, please click Run.

If you receive the following message, download the necessary files:

3.1.1 Setup the Hasp DLLs


As instructed above, copy the two downloaded files (HASPJava.dll and hasp_windows_110193.dll) to the
following location:
On 64 bit machines: C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin
On 32 bit machines: C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin

3.1.2 Install the Run Time Environment
Provided with the Map Application installation is a file called “haspdinst.exe”.
This file is located in the Map installation directory. For example:
C:\Program Files(x86)\RPS\OILMAP\haspdinst.exe or
C:\Program Files\RPS\CHEMMAP\haspdinst.exe

Open Command Prompt as an administrator.


Browse to the directory containing “haspdinst.exe.”
Run “haspdinst.exe –i” to install the Hasp Driver.

If there is an existing Hasp Driver runtime environment, such that this new Hasp Driver may not be installed,
use the Command Prompt to run “haspdinst.exe –r” to remove the existing Hasp. Once the older Hasp has
been removed, run the provided haspdinst.exe in the command prompt (“haspdinst.exe –i”) as described
above.

3.2 Offline Activation
If Java is not installed on the computer or the computer has no internet access, use this activation method.

3.2.1 Collect Status Information


Using the RUS.exe on the offline license server host machine, follow the steps below to gather the necessary
information file to activate the license. The RUS.exe comes with the OILMAP/CHEMMAP/SARMAP
installation or may be downloaded from the Sentinel EMS website The RUS.exe is necessary to activate a
license offline.

On the license server host machine, open RUS.exe as an administrator.


In the “Collect Status Information” tab select “Installation of new protection key” and click the Collect
Information button.
Save the .C2V file that is generated.

3.2.2 Upload the .c2v to the Sentinel EMS license activation site
If the computer requiring the software license does not have internet access, there are two options.
1. Transfer the .c2v file from the offline license server host machine to a computer with internet
access. Log into https://licensing.asascience.com/ems/customerLogin.html and select “offline
activation.” Upload the .c2v file. Continue at step 3.2.3.
2. Email the .c2v file to MapSupoprt@rpsgroup.com. A v2c file will be emailed back to you. Once
you receive the v2c file, proceed to step 3.2.4 below.
If the computer to be licensed has access to the internet, go to the Sentinel EMS License Activation site
https://licensing.asascience.com/ems/customerLogin.html.
Upload the .c2v file to the EMS.
Click “Generate."
You do not need to download the RUS.exe.

3.2.3 Download the .v2c file

Once the .c2v file is uploaded, a .v2c file will be created.


Click on “Download V2C file” to download the .v2c file from the EMS to the local computer.
Save the the .v2c file on the local machine.

3.2.4 Apply License Update
Return to the RUS.exe on the license server host machine.
*If the .v2c was downloaded onto a different computer, transfer the .v2c file to the offline license server host
machine.
In the RUS.EXE, go to the Apply License File tab, click on the ”…” button.
Browse to the recently downloaded .v2c file.
Click Apply Update.
The “Update written successfully” message indicated that the license activation was successful.

4 CONFIGURING THE LICENSE SERVER
4.1 Configuring the License Server on the Server side
This step step is to be performed on the computer hosting the License Server.
In a web browser, go to http://localhost:1947
In the left panel, click on Configuration, as shown in the screenshot below.

Click on the Access from Remote Clients tab.


Turn on the Allow Access from Remote Clients option.
This will allow the computer hosting OILMAP/CHEMMAP/SARMAP (a.k.a the client PC) to access the
Sentinel Admin Control Center.

4.2 Enable Detaching of Licenses
Next, click on the Detachable Licenses tab and turn on the option to Enable Detaching of License.

4.3 Configuring the License Server on the Client side


This step step is to be performed on the computer hosting the OILMAP/CHEMMAP/SARMAP installation
(a.k.a the “client PC.”)
In a web browser, go to http://localhost:1947
In the left panel, click on Configuration.
Go to the Access to Remote License Managers tab.
Turn on all three options to allow access and searching for the Remote License.
In the Specify Search Parameters section, enter the name or IP address of the machine hosting the License
Server.

5 DETACHING/ATTACHING A LICENSE
To use a Map Application license off of the network, it is possible to detach a license from the license server.
This step is to be performed on the computer that requires remote use of OILMAP/CHEMMAP/SARMAP.

5.1 Accessing the Admin Control Center


In OILMAP/CHEMMAP/SARMAP navigate to Help → Detach/Attach License as shown below.

The Sentinel Admin Control Center will open in your default web browser.
Or, in a web browser, go to http://localhost:1947

5.2 Detach a License


Click on Products and select the product (license) that is being detached. Click the Detach button which is
highlighted in the illustration below.

Select the radio button next to the Online Detach Method. Click the Detach and Attach Button.

The license has now been successfully detached.

5.3 Attach a License
This step to attach a license back to the network after it has been detached.
In OILMAP/CHEMMAP/SARMAP navigate to Help → Detach/Attach
Or, in a web browser, go to http://localhost:1947.
Click on Products
Click Cancel License as shown below.

To confirm cancelation click Cancel License. The license is now reattached.

6 TRANSFER LICENSE FROM ONE HOST MACHINE
TO ANOTHER
The Map Application license may be transferred from one currently licensed machine to another (the
“recipient machine” or “target machine”).
On the recipient machine, open RUS.exe as an administrator.
Go to the “Transfer License” tab. Click on the “…” button to Collect and Save Information about the recipient
computer. This information is saved as a *.id file.

The following message will appear when the *.id file generation is completed:

Transfer the *.id file to the computer currently hosting the software license.

On the currently licensed computer, open the RUS.exe as an administrator.

Go to the “Transfer License” tab.

At the bottom of the RUS, click on the “…” button next to “Read the recipient information file from” field.
Browse to the *.id file that was created from the recipient computer.
Next, click on the “…” button next to “Generate the license transfer file to”.
Name and save the .h2h file.
Click the “Generate License Transfer File” button.

The following message will appear once the transfer file has been successfully generated:

Transfer the *.h2h file from the currently licensed computer to the recipient computer.

On the recipient computer, open RUS.exe as an administrator.


In the Apply License File click on the “…” button and browse to the *.h2h file.
Click the “Apply Update” button.

The “update written successfully” message indicates that the license has been transferred.
OILMAP, CHEMMAP, and/or SARMAP may now be utilized on the recipient machine.
