Gita Mahatmya
Knowledge of Gita Is So Vast That It has been excerpted out of
Mahabharata and is also Renamed as Gitopnisad.
While composing the Gitopnisad , Srila VyasaDeva wrote “Gita
Mahatmya” which plays a pivotal role in expanding the glories and
importance of Bhagavad Gita.

1)One who reads Gita with full Devotion and have desire to implement its values in his or her
life will surely attain the real supreme God.

2)One who reads Gita with all seriousness and full consciousness won’t get reactions of past
misdeeds.

3)Taking Bath in the Holy Ganga removes Dirt from our physical body , similarly taking bath in

Gita-Ganga will cleanse the attachment we experience in our material life and strengthen our
chastity.

4)Gita is the summary of all Vedic Literature ,So one who reads Gita needs not to study other
confidential and infallible Vedic scriptures.

5)Gita was Born out of the Holy Mouth of Lord Krsna , therefore whoever reads Gita is dear to
God KRSNA.

6)Vedas and Upanishads are Holy Cow, Gita is the Milk of that Cow and Lord Krsna is the
Calf of the Cow, for whom the milk can be produced in the cows.

7)Let there be One text GITA, Let there be one GOD Krsna, Let there be one Service that
renders to lord Krsna , Let there be One mantra The mahamantra , the holy name of Lord<3

Dharmaksetre Kuruksetre Samveta Yuyutsava Mamkah

Pandavascaiva Kimakurvata Sanjaya…..

The First Chapter or The Introductory Chapter is also known as Vishad Yoga .

In this chapter everyone is in dilemma, everyone is fearful, everyone is coward.

This chapter Can be widely categorized in four parts :-

*DHRITARASTRA’S FEAR

*DURYODHANA’S FEAR

*BLOWING UP CONCH ( setting up scene)

*ARJUNA’s DILEMMA.

Throughout His Life Dhritarastra supported the misdeeds of his sons . He is the
primary cause of the downfall of Kauravas .In this verse we can see he used words
like “MAMAKAH” to distinguish his sons from Pandavas. Although both
pandavas and kauravas come from same lineage but Dhritarastra who is epitome of
ignorance can only draw line between them .

He could have used words like “Mama putranam” but he chose to say Mamakah,
which means he is directly supporting the Adharmis .
