Glastonbury Burners

Thank you for purchasing a Glastonbury Burner! Please see installation advice and
instructions below.

Before use, have three small fires in a well-ventilated area, using kindling only, not letting the
stove fully cool in between burns. This properly cures the paint onto the stove. Please note
that there may be fumes given off during this process.

There are stove fixing points on opposite legs that accept an M10 bolt and should be used in
mobile spaces to secure the stove effectively.

When installing the stove, a minimum distance of 450mm to combustibles should be adhered
to. This distance can be reduced with the use of heat shields. The heatshields should be of at
least 1.5mm sheet metal or 12mm fireboard. An air gap of at least 22mm should be
maintained between the heat shield and the combustible material. The heat shield should be
raised at least 75mm off the floor/hearth. The heat shield should protrude a minimum of
150mm above the stove. The stove can be placed no closer than 95mm to the heat shield.

A hearth of 12mm non-combustible material, such as tiles or fireboard, should be used and
should protrude at least 225mm out from the door opening of the stove. Sheet metal can also
be used as a hearth but should have an air gap of 22mm below the hearth to create a
“constructional hearth”.

If using single skin flue, then combustibles should be no closer than 3 times the diameter of
the flue. If twin wall flue is used, then it depends on the manufacturer’s specification but no
closer than 50mm. Heat shielding can be used to reduce the distance to single skin flue.

A suitable high temperature heat resistant flashing should be used when an external flue is
passing through a flexible roof such as fibreglass or steel. Minimum distances to
combustibles should be adhered to, including to insulation.

The flue should be sealed where it joins the stove with fire cement or a high temperature
silicone sealant.

A drop vent should be placed in the floor underneath the burner or as close to the stove as
possible not more than 300mm away from the stove.

A carbon monoxide detector and a smoke alarm should be fitted following the manufacturer’s
instructions.
