TALLY INTRO

Tally is the accounting software that records our individual or

company expenses, incomes, parties like our creditors/debtors, as

well as our bank and cash transactions.

Tally is based on the management of both Service Provider and

Inventory Management where it serves the invoicing and non-

invoicing transaction vouchers.

Tally consist of 3 Elements:

 Masters : This is the outcome of both ledgers and vouchers in

the company, as its back up

 Ledgers : This is the head of the item, created on behalf of the

category. Ex: Tea bought for some amount will be

recorded as ‘Tea Expenses’.

 Vouchers : This is the document or screen that allows to

transact with those created ledgers

To create The Company, we will select Create Company. ^

5
Note: Purchased Tally is licensed full-version used by the companies or

individuals for their personal use that allows any date of the

calendar/financial year, while the trial version allows only educational mode

license where it takes 1st, 2nd and 31st of each month wherever it is

applicable. Also it shows the extra screen where we have to accept that the

user need to work in educational mode.

1-1-yyyy = 31-12-yyyy (Calendar Year)

1-4-yyyy to 31-3-yyyy + 1 (financial Year)

To go beneath any option:

 Single Underline = Alt + (that Letter)

 Bold Letter = (that Letter)

 Double Underline = Ctrl + (that Letter)

6
CONTRA VOUCHER ENTRY

In a company, it is very important to have a start-up amount for the

backup as well as other banking facilities for business drawings and

debentures. In Tally, we will introduce our bank account as ledger.

To Make a Bank Account Ledger:

Gateway of Tally > Create > Ledgers >

Name: HDFC,

Alias: <Blank> ^

Under: Bank Accounts

<Rest all others are optional>

Enter > Accept > Yes.

You can also show your available bank opening amount, while in the

bank ledger which we have created above.

In instance, we are not entering any opening balance in the ledger

itself. Instead, we are using a voucher entry method to do so.

7
To make an entry depositing the amount in the bank:

Gateway of Tally > Vouchers > F4: Contra

Dr. <Bank Account Account>

Cr. <Cash Account Ledger>

Enter > Accept. ^

Now, when we have done with the entry in our bank account ledger using

the voucher entry method, it is the time to see where we can find that in our

tally software.

For Withdrawal:
