People’s Initiative

The goal of the people’s initiative is to eliminate the senate to render them
powerless. The reason for this is that as mentioned to render the senate to be
powerless or for them not to have the power to make big decisions. People’
concern is that the people’s initiative will be the reason for democracy in our
country. To get people to sign the petition, some netizens are saying they are
“signature buying”. Fe Baldo, a resident of Guimba, Nueva Ecija is said to be a
victim of people’s initiative she said, “They did not explain what the petition was
for. They just said that we might be receiving relief aid once we signed the forms.
We did not know that the petition we signed is bad, that it might be signature
buying,”. This means that they are wrongfully informing people what the petition
is about and making the them sign the said petition. According to Rep. France
Castro “There could be term limit extension afterward, opening sectors to cronies,
and facilitating the ownership of foreign investors.
