Monitoring Planning Processes

1. To start the Web browser for the monitor specific to the required subplan and planning session, click on the link.
Depending on how your system environment is configured, a dialog box is displayed that requests you to enter your logon data. (Also see Maintaining
Web Services for STS.) This concerns the user names and password for the SAP System in which you operate BW-BPS.
The system displays the hierarchical view of the overview page in the Web browser. (See also Overview: Planning with the Status and Tracking System).
2. A number of control and intervention functions are now available to you. For example:
— Sending e-mail to persons responsible or to the current processor of a task
— Entering comments
— Locking or unlocking
— Switching to the tabular view with the option of filtering according to various criteria
3. (Also see Overview: Planning with the Status and Tracking System).
4. If a particular area of responsibility requires your particular attention, click on Detail to call up the detail page for the selected area of responsibility in display
mode. Here you can find detailed information on the selected area of responsibility.
5. If you want to perform a status switch, click on the Edit button, below the detailed information for the selected area of responsibility. You are then in
processing mode.
6. Choose the status switch that you require.

With each non-cascading status switch, the system automatically:

— saves the status and (depending on the status change)

— sets or lifts the lock for the selected area of responsibility

— triggers the automatic notification system of the Status and Tracking System, if it has been activated. See: Executing Customizing. Notifications assigned
to a status are sent by e-mail. See Adjusting Notification Texts.

— starts the global planning sequence for this status switch synchronously or as a background job. This happens as long as global planning sequences have
been activated (see Executing Customizing) and a global planning sequence has been assigned to this status switch and your area of responsibility (see
Executing Global Planning Sequences upon Status Switch).

7. Where necessary, enter Comments, to record any special features. Choose Save to save the comments.
8. If necessary, choose further actions on the detail page or the overview page.
9. Choose Log Off to close the Status and Tracking System.

It is important that you log off from the planning session explicitly since otherwise the connection to the SAP System application server is kept and the
planning objects you used remain locked.
