BOOK REVIEW – SCAFFOLD FOR SPEECH

BOOK HOOK
 In 1-2 sentences introduce the name of your text and who wrote it
 You should also state something interesting about the text or a quote that will ‘hook’ the
listener and make them want to read the novel and listen to your speech.

Paragraph 1:
 What is your text about?
 If a novel provide an overview of the plot/story line or
 what is your overall opinion of the text?

Paragraph 2:
 What is the main technique uses for telling the story or the information?
 How is the text structured? (consider the dialogue, language, picture sequences, narration,
instructions)
 Are there pictures? Are they visually appealing?
 Will other readers be able to understand it?

Paragraph 3:
 Who are the main characters? What do they experience?
 What are the conflicts and themes presented
 Why is it interesting?

Paragraph 4:
 What is your favourite part of the story or text?
 What do you like about it and why?
 Do you like the characters, the story line?
 Would you change anything?

Conclusion:
 Summarise the best qualities of the text again
 Would you recommend reading the text?
 Who would you recommend read it?
 Give your text a rating and summarise the reasons for this.
