As I lie myself to sleep

and let all the noise die down
I lull my heart into deep
and breathe soft without a sound

I trace the broken pieces

of the remains of my heart
I’ve found shards of a jewel
when everything fell apart

The memories left my side

when the pain was all I felt
I had nothing but my pride
when all the cards had been dealt

Wounded by my own sorrows

I let my tears cascade through
Yes, my heart is in pieces
There is nothing I could do
